Zenoss Extends Unified Monitoring with Deeper Application Visibility

Zenoss Inc., the leading provider of unified IT monitoring and management solutions for physical, virtual, and cloud-based IT infrastructure, today announced significant enhancements to Zenoss Service Dynamics (ZSD) Resource Manager. The new release includes process-set based monitoring that helps make users more efficient by enabling the management of large groups of similar processes instead of managing each process individually, drastically reducing the time needed to manage complex large scale application environments.

ZSD Resource Manager, a component of Zenoss Service Dynamics, automatically discovers, models and monitors critical applications and services, and also identifies the infrastructure assets they rely on, for optimal performance and availability. This service-centric view of infrastructure is increasingly important in today’s highly distributed hybrid datacenters. Leveraging the growing pool of 375+ modules, called ZenPacks, ZSD Resource Manager offers coverage for a broad array of technologies and can be easily extended to support new and emerging technologies.

“Datacenter managers need modern solutions to effectively and efficiently manage their extremely complex and dynamic IT environments,” said Alan Conley, CTO of Zenoss. “We have an aggressive agenda of innovation planned for 2014 and these new enhancements are just the first of many we’ll be announcing in the coming months. Our charter remains: simplify IT management and provide our customers with what they need to meet and exceed the demands of their business.”

Key enhancements to ZSD Resource Manager include:

  • OS Process Monitoring Class – allows management of similar processes via sets rather than as individual processes
  • Event Flap Detection – eliminates event storms by identifying and reporting on situations where a service or host changes state too frequently.
  • Event Console Filtering – Provides the ability to customize the content and display of the event console to meet business needs
