Pluribus Networks, the company that brings together compute, network, storage, and virtualization into a single, open and programmable platform, announced today that the company will be demonstrating the benefits of Netvisor®, the industry’s first and only bare-metal, distributed network hypervisor operating system, along with the company’s Freedom architecture, at the OpenStack Summit in Atlanta, May 12-16, 2014 in conjunction with Red Hat.
Pluribus will be showing OpenStack orchestration based on the Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform, featuring tighter integration with native network services, as well as additional capabilities that include the ability to set per-tenant and per-application QoS, and the use of the Netvisor’s ‘vflow’ capability for application flow programming. The integrated server hardware and storage on the Pluribus Freedom platform can host the OpenStack controller in addition to other network services, eliminating the need for separate orchestration hardware within the rack.
“Pluribus Networks has been a certified partner with Red Hat and for Red Hat's OpenStack offerings since the launch of the Red Hat OpenStack Cloud Infrastructure Partner Network in April of 2014. Pluribus Networks delivers a Red Hat certified solution, delivering the benefits of a fully converged solution that combines the benefits of storage-defined networking (SDN) in an open-standards-based converged SDN platform, together with the Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack platform,” said Mike Werner, senior director, Global Technology Partner Ecosystems, Red Hat. “The Pluribus Freedom product line is jointly tested and certified and supported by Pluribus for deployments with Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with industry leaders like Pluribus Networks to provide the required, consistent performance and compatibility for our joint customers.”
“Our customers are already taking advantage of the benefits of application and network convergence, saving CAPEX and OPEX while increasing service deployment velocity,” said Dave Ginsburg, CMO of Pluribus Networks. “We are pleased to demonstrate here at the conference our validated OpenStack solutions offered together with Red Hat. Rather than separating them, we integrate compute and networking to converge the OpenStack orchestration environment into the top-of-rack by leveraging our open-standards-based Freedom platform with Netvisor-based network virtualization. Also, working with other OpenStack partners such as Oracle and Supermicro, we are extending the Netvisor intelligence in-rack with fabric services and comprehensive analytics.”
The certified solution eliminates additional hardware and support costs, allowing Pluribus’ highly programmable converged SDN platform to operate as a full ‘cloud controller' by provisioning and managing servers, virtual machines, storage, and even other switches.
