Netronome, the leading provider of data plane processing solutions for software-defined networks (SDN), announced that they will discuss processor and platform requirements for SDN and network functions virtualization (NFV) at the Global SDN Technology Conference. Netronome experts will be featured in two separate sessions during the two-day conference. Additionally, Netronome will be demonstrating their flow processors, acceleration cards, and software during the event.
Daniel Proch, Netronome’s vice president of product management, will present, “Networks in Transformation: SDN and NFV Implications on Processor Requirements,” at the Liaoning Hotel in Beijing, China, on Tuesday, May 20. Proch will discuss how the emergence of hyperscale data centers are prompting businesses to shift from proprietary systems to software-controlled commodity platforms for services and switching and the processing requirements to enable this change.
Zhihua Chen, senior field applications engineer at Netronome, will also lead a discussion on Wednesday, May 21, that will describe a 200 Gbps flow processing implementation for software-defined networking and NFV applications.
“NFV helps carries to deploy new services faster, improve automation and management, and lower operational costs," said Jarrod Siket, senior vice president of marketing at Netronome. "However, not all applications can be adequately supported by general purpose servers. Applications that look deeply in to packets, and those based on high-speed virtual switching, often require specialized NICs that perform network and security offloads."
