Quintillion Invests in a New Decoupled Storage Architecture Using PernixData FVP Software

PernixData, the leader in server side storage intelligence, today announced that Quintillion, a fund administration company based in Dublin, has deployed the company's storage acceleration software to increase MS SQL performance and lower ongoing storage costs. By deploying PernixData FVP software, Quintillion has improved operational efficiencies by lowering database query times by 40%. In addition, the company has saved more than $80,000 in IT investments over the next few years by avoiding expensive storage upgrades.

"We had plenty of storage capacity, but needed more storage performance to virtualize our mission critical databases without slowing down SQL query times," said Charles Gillanders, CTO of Quintillion. "PernixData FVP allows us to move storage performance into high speed server flash, giving us the database performance we need at a price that doesn't break the bank. When people ask 'Why would you virtualize SQL Server'? I now respond 'Why wouldn't you?'"

PernixData FVP, the premier software platform for scale-out storage acceleration, virtualizes high speed server resources like flash and RAM into a clustered acceleration tier that enables IT administrators to quickly, easily and cost-effectively scale-out storage performance completely independent of storage capacity. The result is unprecedented read and write performance for all virtual machines (VMs), without the need to change existing server and storage infrastructure. By creating a new software based infrastructure for server side storage intelligence, PernixData fundamentally changes how storage is designed and operated in virtual data centers.

"Quintillion is a perfect example of how companies of all sizes are turning to PernixData FVP to optimize mission critical applications like virtualized databases," said Jeff Aaron, vice president of marketing at PernixData. "By decoupling storage performance from capacity, we deliver the performance our customers need at a price they want -- without changing or replacing existing storage infrastructure. There is a fundamental shift happening in storage, and PernixData is right in the center of it."
