Login VSI, Inc. announces Login VSI 4.1, a substantial update to its
flagship product. Login VSI is the industry-standard performance
validation solution for centralized virtualized desktop and server-based
environments. The new release, which has been tested in limited private
beta since May 2014, benefits two main audiences: Enterprises and
vendors. Enterprises use Login VSI to optimize the performance of their
virtualized environments. Vendors of virtualization technologies and
solutions rely on Login VSI for testing and validating their products
before bringing them to market.
For both enterprise and vendor audiences, improvements to the product
make predicting and validating the performance of virtualized
environments easier than ever. The update simplifies the job of locating
performance bottlenecks. Version 4.1 introduces new highly realistic
workloads that accurately represent real-world end user activities.
New highly realistic workloads for better predictions
Login VSI 4.0, the previous version, included three workloads. In
Login VSI 4.1, we have introduced a new workload--the "Office
worker"--and shifted the definition of the workloads in the previous
version. The four workloads in Login VSI 4.1 include, beginning with the
lightest weight users, the Task worker and Office worker for 1vCPU
desktops, and the Knowledge worker and Power worker for 2vCPU desktops.
These new workloads allow organizations to better match and simulate
their virtual desktop usage and predict and validate the performance of
constantly changing production environments. In addition, these
workloads simplify integration and execution in even the most
complicated virtualized environments.
Import, mix and correlate performance data from any source
Login VSI 4.1 introduces the ability to import data generated by
Microsoft Windows Performance Monitor, VMware ESXtop, or any other data
source in CSV format into the Login VSI Analyzer. This makes it possible
to correlate performance data from the operating system, hypervisor and
storage platform with VSImax. (VSImax is the measurement of maximum
performance before the system experiences performance degradation).
Through the built-in automatic scaling and time synchronization, the
Login VSI Analyzer can easily merge performance data from different
sources to easily identify and understand the performance bottleneck(s)
of the individual components within the complete environment.
Improved VSImax simplifies understanding of potential bottlenecks
The new versatile VSImax measurement and calculation methodology is
no longer specifically dependent on Microsoft Office Word, which gives
organizations that need to test without Microsoft Office more
flexibility. In addition, version 4.1 includes new VSImax measurements
to help identify specific bottlenecks such as CPU or disk IO. Together
with an optimized VSImax calculation methodology, the new VSImax is now
more precise and delivers more powerful insights.
“Login VSI 4.1 delivers significant improvements that help
organizations more easily predict and validate the performance of their
constantly changing virtual desktop environments,” says Mark
Plettenberg, Product Manager at Login VSI. “Because Login VSI makes
large-scale performance testing easy, even organizations with the most
complex virtualized environments choose Login VSI to integrate in their
operational test cycles to safeguard the performance and user
experience.”
