Zenoss Inc., the leading provider of unified
monitoring and analytics solutions for physical, virtual, and
cloud-based IT, today announced Zenoss Control Center, an open source
project.
Control Center
is an application service orchestrator that provides an out-of-band
management system to the next generation Zenoss platform that is
currently under development. Control Center is powered by Docker,
a leading open source platform for building, shipping and running
distributed applications, enabling DevOps application deployment
agility.
Control Center adds a service management layer on top of Docker
allowing it to orchestrate non-Zenoss applications in the same manner it
orchestrates the next generation Zenoss platform. Anything from a
simple web application to a complex multi-tiered distributed application
stack can be managed through Control Center.
“Docker is a significant step forward in simplifying the deployment
and management of applications on cloud infrastructures. By open
sourcing Control Center, we hope to contribute key capabilities to the
Docker community that will further this effort,” said Alan Conley, CTO
of Zenoss. “Our specific goal is to work with the community to develop a
standard method for not only monitoring containers, but also the
applications running in the containers.”
Key Control Center features:
- Simple HTML5 deployment and management UI with application topology view - know where your apps are and how they are connected
- Automated application discovery, configuration, deployment , resource management, availability monitoring and logging
- Simple to manage application templates for rapid application provisioning
- REST API for easy integration into other management tools
- Native Zenoss Monitoring and Service Impact Support
