Netronome, the leading provider of data plane processing solutions for
software-defined networks (SDN), today announced that the company will
be demonstrating an innovative workload specific processing architecture
that shows a 10x improvement over software only techniques specific to
virtualizing network architectures at WMworld 2014. The demonstrations
will include hardware-based tunnel termination and switching for a
variety of packet encapsulations, VTEP (VXLAN tunnel endpoint)
termination, NFV service insertion for a range of cyber security and
network analytics applications all under SDN control.
Ideal for OVS-based virtualized networks, Netronome’s FlowNICs in
standard high-volume servers significantly enhance the performance of
overlay networks and virtualized network functions in SDN designs. The
products demonstrated will include a suite of FlowNIC™ PCIe Gen3 cards
based on their NFP-6xxx flow processors that scale up to 200 Gbps, along
with a new FlowEnvironment software package that provides
standards-based APIs and configuration protocols for virtual switch
offload and acceleration. Netronome’s programmable FlowNICs are designed
for acceleration of Open vSwitch, OpenFlow, packet classification and
filtering, stateful flow analysis, deep packet inspection, flow-based
load balancing, security processing and traditional switching and
routing.
“Open vSwitch has become the centerpiece of technologies used to tightly
couple network virtualization with operating system virtualization,”
says Jarrod Siket, senior vice president of marketing at Netronome. “Our
ability to move OVS data plane processing out of software and into
processors specifically designed for handling flows allows network
operators to scale cloud data center architectures and transform network
economics by removing performance bottlenecks.”
VMworld 2014 brings together thought leaders, subject matter experts,
and IT professionals to immerse themselves in the latest in
virtualization and cloud technology. The conference offers technical and
content-rich sessions and labs covering the latest in virtualization
innovations in the data center for storage, networking, security,
management, workforce mobility and hybrid cloud services. Netronome will
offer demonstrations in booth number 2524.
