VMUG Announces Leadership Transition

VMware User Group (VMUG), an independent, customer-led organization created to maximize members’ use of VMware, announced today that Victor Bohnert has given his resignation as executive director of the group, effective Sept. 1, 2014. Bohnert is leaving VMUG to accept a leadership position at another organization. Colleen Jamieson, VMUG director of operations, will serve as acting director while the board conducts research for his replacement.

“Having worked closely with Victor for several years, I am personally very grateful for his invaluable contributions and leadership that has accelerated VMUG’s growth and impact,” said Mariano Maluf, global VMUG president. “The entire VMUG leadership team wishes Victor well, and we have complete confidence in Colleen’s ability to lead VMUG as it continues its fast-growth agenda, maximizing members’ use of VMWare and partner solutions through knowledge sharing, training, collaboration and events.”

“I am extremely grateful for the opportunity to serve the thousands of VMUG members and contribute to the exciting growth of our global community and the positive impact that virtualization has had on business performance and economic growth,” Bohnert added. “My experience has been enriched by the intelligence, energy and talent of the global VMUG leaders and members I’ve worked with who have helped shape the quality of resources and explosive growth that was our vision.”

Bohnert will lead and direct the transition until Sept. 1, 2014, at which time Jamieson will begin her assignment as acting executive director. The board of VMUG has commenced a search for a permanent executive director.
