Pluribus Networks Announces First Application-Aware Fabric for Oracle Solaris 11.2 Applications

Pluribus Networks, the company that brings together compute, network, storage and virtualization into a single, open and programmable SDN platform, announced today an application-aware fabric developed in conjunction with Oracle’s Solaris 11.2 that is now able to make fine-grained Quality of Service (QoS) calls to a network infrastructure. The company will be demonstrating the latest application-driven software-defined networking (SDN) capabilities at Oracle OpenWorld 2014, in San Francisco, California, September 28 through October 2, 2014, booth 123.

Pluribus and Oracle are cooperating in delivering an end-to-end application-aware fabric for Solaris 11.2 applications. The joint solution leverages the convergence capabilities of its network hypervisor, Netvisor, in exposing the underlying network infrastructure to the application, permitting the dynamic translation of application requests into network flows, while utilizing the platform’s NPU for strict QoS support.

"The Pluribus Netvisor and Network Computing Appliance take advantage of Solaris Application-driven SDN, and provide additional Network Fabric QoS and Fabric Analytics for Solaris application flows," said Markus Flierl, vice president, Oracle Solaris.
