CommVault - CommVault today announced it has added data management and protection
support for Amazon Web Services (AWS) that includes robust cloud
reporting as well as self-service virtual machine provisioning, recovery
and resource management with snapshot-based data protection. CommVault
will be showcasing its cloud capabilities at this week's AWS re:Invent
2014 conference at the Venetian Sands Resort and Convention Center in Las Vegas, November 11-14, in booth No. 1215.
As
customers and partners rapidly adopt cloud architectures, CommVault has
continued to invest in features that help them manage and protect
workloads in the cloud, with particular emphasis on AWS. In addition to
existing support for Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) and
Amazon Glacier, CommVault has introduced automated virtual machine (VM)
provisioning and lifecycle management for workloads running on Amazon
Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2).
"CommVault
recognized the trend toward cloud computing very early on and made
significant investments over the past several years. As a result, we
support a very broad set of cloud storage options within our software
platform," said CommVault chief operating officer, Al Bunte.
"Our automation and optimization features for AWS allow customers,
resellers and service providers to further take advantage of the
flexible, scalable, pay-as-you-go AWS Cloud to reduce their costs,
complexity and risks."
CommVault
has also been designated by Amazon Web Services as an Advanced
Technology Partner, and a Storage Competency Partner in the AWS Partner
Network (APN).
"The AWS Partner Network is an extremely important resource for our customers," said Terry Wise,
Director of Worldwide Partner Ecosystem, Amazon Web Services, Inc.
"CommVault is one of our Advanced Technology Partners with the AWS
Storage Competency in backup and archive, and we are excited to
see them continue to innovate and improve the capabilities of their
storage offerings for AWS customers."
Backup, Archive, and DR with Amazon S3 and Amazon Glacier
CommVault
Simpana software allows customers and provider partners to unify data
protection operations including backup, archive, and disaster recovery
(DR) of workloads on AWS. With support for Amazon S3 and Amazon Glacier,
users can seamlessly migrate data into AWS storage solutions with just a
few clicks. Built-in tiering capabilities also allow users to automate
data management and retention with AWS, based on pre-defined
customizable policies. These solutions enable customers and provider
partners to spend less time provisioning capacity and refreshing
hardware products, and more time focusing on strategic projects that
bring value to their businesses.
"We
have been using AWS as an integral part of our newly implemented
disaster recovery strategy, and the unique way that CommVault Simpana
software was able to give visibility across all of our on- and
off-premise data management processes holistically, was critical for
us," said Justin Mason, Information Technology and Web Officer, University of Canberra.
"Simpana software is the leading data management solution for AWS
integration and has a strong value proposition from a breadth of service
perspective that will enable us to scale our services to match the
future needs of our staff and students."
VM Backup, Recovery and Management for AWS
CommVault's
recently announced Solution Set for VM Backup, Recovery and Cloud
Management enables virtual machine administrators and end users to
build, protect, and optimize virtualized and cloud infrastructures.
While alternative solutions only backup VMs, Simpana software enables
application owners and tenants to fully manage their own VM
provisioning, management, backup and recovery, retirement and archiving
operations on the AWS Cloud - all through a single interface.
CommVault at AWS re:Invent
CommVault
will showcase these solutions at AWS re:Invent 2014, AWS' premier
technology conference for IT professionals and enterprise developers, in
Platinum sponsor booth #1215.
Conference
attendees can benefit from CommVault expertise with the presentation of
a technical session: "Automating Backup and Archiving with AWS and
CommVault," at the Venetian in Las Vegas, Nevada, November 11th-14th.
