2015 will mark the rise of the 'Cloud managed datacenter'
In 2015, enterprises will continue
to pursue ways to combine the security and cost effectiveness of their
private infrastructure resources with the agility of public clouds.
In doing so, they'll continue to adopt open source software such as Linux, KVM, Docker, OpenStack, and Kubernetes. However,
deploying and managing such open source software often requires
specialized skills that are hard to find, and this has historically
posed a struggle for enterprises.
A recent trend promises to solve this conundrum: 'Cloud
managed datacenter' is an innovative approach wherein enterprises use
these management frameworks, but consume them as SaaS offerings.
In 2015, 'Cloud managed datacenters' will come to the fore, as illustrated by:
- Cloud managed Operating Systems such as CoreOS
- Cloud managed OpenStack such as Platform9 OpenStack
- Cloud managed Storage such as SwiftStack
- Cloud managed Networks such as Meraki
