Scale Computing's HC4000 Named Product of the Year in Storage Systems
Scale Computing, the leading provider of hyperconverged solutions, was named the winner of Storage Magazine and's 2014 Products of the Year competition earning the Gold designation in the Storage Systems: Disk and Hybrid Systems category for its HC4000.

Winners of the 12th annual Storage Magazine/ Product of the Year awards were selected by judges from the publications' editorial staff in conjunction with a team of users, industry experts, analysts and consultants. Selection criteria included innovation, performance, ease of integration into existing environments, ease of use and manageability, functionality and value. Scale Computing bested products from finalists Coho Data, EMC, Gridstore, Nimble Storage and Nutanix.

Scale Computing's HC4000 was described as "unique among hyper-converged systems" for its support of KVM rather than using VMware hypervisors, with one judge noting it was a "good, well-priced product that provides hyper-converged solutions with features and without the VMware tax." Another stated that the HC4000 delivers "more capabilities than VMware on a lower-cost platform.  That's quite innovative."

HC4000 is the high end HC3 system designed to provide high availability, scalability and simplicity for small to mid-sized company virtualization environments. Scale Computing's HC3 platform brings storage, servers, virtualization and management together in a single, comprehensive system. With no virtualization software to license and no external storage to buy, HC3 products lower out-of-pocket costs and radically simplify the infrastructure needed to keep applications running. HC3 products make the deployment and management of a highly available and scalable infrastructure as easy to manage as a single server.

"We're pleased to have our efforts in making virtualization easy recognized by being named as a top product in this year's Storage Magazine/ Product of the Year awards," said Jeff Ready, CEO at Scale Computing. "As hyperconvergence continues to gain foothold in the industry for its simplicity, availability and scalability, we are better able to shift the focus of IT from managing infrastructure to managing applications. Delivering this in a single appliance, like our HC4000, that eliminates the hardware and licensing costs of traditional virtualization environments while minimizing complexity and management of the system is key to bringing virtualization to the mainstream."
