Atlantis Secures Largest Market Share Growth in Global Storage and Hyper-Converged Solutions for VDI and SBC

Atlantis Computing, the leading provider of Software-Defined Storage, today announced PQR and Login Consultants released its 2015 "Project Virtual Reality Check (VRC)" analysis which shows Atlantis more than doubling market share from 3.8% in 2014 to 7.4% in 2015 in the "storage solutions used for VDI/SBC" - more than double the market share of the next largest Software-Defined Storage or hyper-converged competitors, many of whom dropped in overall market presence.

The full research methodology and whitepaper conclusions, including the 2015 Project VRC study, can be downloaded free of charge. Findings include vertical market analysis, user population growth, and VDI application usage, hypervisor and storage trends. Project VRC analysis indicated that, while traditional storage infrastructure remains the largest installed base for respondent VDI and SBC environments, Software-Defined and hyper-converged storage providers including Atlantis represent the fastest growing segment of market.

"In the haze of extreme innovation rates and marketing hype, Project VRC provides a clear view of VDI reality," said Ruben Spruijt, PQR chief technology officer and VRC founding partner. "From hypervisor and operating system shakeouts to innovations like SDS or hyper-converged storage, we share insights that help enterprises of all sizes make choices that serve them well today and into the future." Spruijt is also one of three European industry luminaries to hold all three virtualization titles of Microsoft Most Valuable Professional (MVP), Citrix Technology Professional (CTP) and VMware vExpert.

The 2015 Project VRC global study included approximately 25% of its respondents from North America, 63% from Europe, and 6% from APAC. To further minimize bias, nearly 90% of respondents held technical positions in organizations that employ VDI and/or SBC implementations as a core business practice, or those reselling, partnering or integrating such technologies, rather than working for IT vendors.

About Project Virtual Reality Check

PQR and Login Consultants started its unbiased Project VRC research and development project in 2009 to analyze and objectively present findings regarding global developments in application- and desktop-virtualization markets. Several white papers with Login VSI test results were published about the performance and best practices of different hypervisors, Microsoft Office versions, application virtualization solutions, Windows Operating Systems in server hosted desktop solutions and the impact of antivirus.  The goal of the Project VRC survey is to share insights about usage, configuration and trends in the Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and Server Based Computing Industry. Unlike other surveys of its kind, Project VRC is designed specifically on executing independent, community-based deep technical best practice testing, market insights and performance analysis in the server hosted desktop industry, without sponsorship.

Atlantis USX

Atlantis USX is a Software-Defined Storage solution that delivers the performance of an all-flash array at half the cost of traditional SAN or NAS. Customers can pool, accelerate and consolidate storage to increase performance and capacity by up to ten times each. Atlantis USX enables customers to abstract all existing SAN, NAS and local storage (SAS, RAM, Flash, SSD) into a single logical pool. Atlantis HyperDup Content-Aware Data Services applied at the compute layer leverage Atlantis real-time deduplication technology  to provide data reductionIO accelerationdata managementdata mobilitysecurity and Unified Storage across all datacenter storage. Atlantis USX is deployed as virtual machines that run on the virtualized compute layer alongside the virtual desktops.

Project VRC analysis indicated that, while traditional storage infrastructure remains the largest installed base for respondent VDI and SBC environments, Software-Defined and hyper-converged storage providers including Atlantis represent the fastest growing segment of market.
