PCoIP
Hardware Accelerator complements NVIDIA's vGPU technology to provide
the best remote user experience to high-end 3D Graphics workloads
Teradici
have released the latest drivers (version 2.5) for its PCoIP Hardware
Accelerator, which enables organizations to further capitalize on the
latest release of VMware Horizon and NVIDIA GRID vGPUs.
The VMware and NVIDIA
solution offers VMware Horizon users an immersive, graphics-intensive
virtual desktop experience, delivered cost effectively with GPU shared
across multiple users. Coupling VMware/NVIDIA vGPU deployments with the
Teradici PCoIP Hardware Accelerator, allows IT managers to deliver the
ultimate user experience, by efficiently encoding the extra pixels
generated by the GPU and delivering higher frames per second to the end
point client.
The
PCoIP Hardware Accelerator also reduces CPU overhead by dynamically
offloading up to 100 of the most active displays to ensure compute
resources are optimized. For example, University Duisburg-Essen
in Germany successfully delivered virtual desktops that support
graphic-intensive 3D applications to students through a solution that
leveraged a Teradici PCoIP Hardware Accelerator and NVIDIA GRID GPU in
each VMware Horizon VDI server.
"When
IT added the Hardware Accelerator and GPU to the server, the user
experience was amazing. We now have true anywhere access to all of our
department applications, and are no longer limited by data center walls
or campus boundaries," said André Kreft, managing director, Faculty of
Biology, University Duisburg-Essen.
With
the new capabilities, organizations can deliver virtualized
workstation-grade desktops to a broader range of users, from knowledge
and power users to workstation users in need of graphics-intensive
applications, including 3D, prevalent with film editing, design and
CAD/CAM application users.
In
addition to support for VMware ESXi 6.0 and VMware Horizon View 6.1,
the Hardware Accelerator is now also compatible with VMware Horizon
Published Desktop (RDSH).
