StorMagic Launches SvSAN Management Pack for Microsoft System Center Operations Manager

StorMagic, a leading provider of enterprise-class software-defined storage for virtual server environments, today announced the availability of its management pack and storage management provider (SMP) for Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM). The new management pack allows users to centralize monitoring of their entire SvSAN multisite storage infrastructure, which could encompass up to 10,000 sites, through one single pane of glass. It also includes real-time alerting and monitoring capabilities to simplify potential problem identification and troubleshooting, helping users address any issues in a timely manner.

StorMagic’s SvSAN allows companies with multiple locations, such as remote or branch offices (ROBOs), to store critical applications and associated data on site so that they are available at all times without needing access to company-wide networks. This is particularly important if they relate to customer-facing applications in retail outlets, hotels, or chains of restaurants, for example. Disruption at these sites can lead to a loss in service and damage customer perceptions of the brand. However, StorMagic’s SvSAN ensures high availability by keeping the data and applications local, but managing them through a centrally controlled virtualized storage platform.

“The combination of Microsoft System Center Operations Manager and StorMagic’s management pack allows remote storage infrastructure monitoring to be centralized for virtual environments,” said Stephen Foskett, writer and speaker on storage and server virtualization. “It’s a perfect partnership because the combination of these two solutions is highly scalable and capable of supporting environments with thousands of virtual storage appliances located at multiple distributed locations.”

Hans O'Sullivan, CEO of StorMagic said: “StorMagic is focused on solving key business problems for its clients, enabling high availability across their sites with less hardware and less operating expense than traditional storage solutions. This management pack further simplifies monitoring of SvSAN in Microsoft-based environments for customers and is a key part of our strategy to deliver affordable, easy to support alternatives to expensive SANs in virtual server environments."
