Datadog,
a leading SaaS-based monitoring platform for cloud applications, today
announced new, dynamic platform services for deep diagnostics and
monitoring of Amazon EC2 Container Service (Amazon ECS). Datadog’s new
Amazon ECS capabilities are designed to empower developers and sysadmins
by enhancing visibility into the scheduling, monitoring, and lifecycle
management of Docker applications.
Delivering a Comprehensive View of Infrastructure Performance
Datadog enables collection, visualization, and alerts on important
Docker resource metrics in Amazon ECS, such as CPU or memory usage, and
then correlates metrics for a comprehensive view of infrastructure
performance and health. Amazon ECS tackles critical network, deployment
and security issues for Docker containers, which has drawn significant
interest from, and adoption by, IT ops.
“Adopting Amazon ECS has allowed us to scale faster and make our cloud
infrastructure more flexible,” says Bilal Aslam, Chief Product Officer,
Appuri. “Datadog's new integration will provide us deep visibility into
our Amazon ECS environment so that we can better understand our
infrastructure's performance at a glance and continue to rapidly expand
on this new platform.”
“By consistently introducing innovative products, like Amazon ECS,
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has created a dynamic environment for customer
deployments – one that dramatically changes the way we apply and manage
application development,” said Amit Agarwal, Chief Product Officer of
Datadog. “Rapid customer adoption of both AWS and Docker has been a
major driver for new features on our monitoring platform, and we look
forward to keeping pace with this application evolution, and to
providing our customers the best, most comprehensive view of their
infrastructure performance.”
Amazon ECS is a highly scalable, high performance container management
service that eases Docker container management on a cluster of Amazon
Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) instances. As containerized
applications scale and the number of container deployments increase, so
does the need for visibility into the health and status of those
containers. Datadog’s solution makes it possible for customers to more
efficiently build and deploy, as well as monitor and manage, the
performance of containerized applications running on Amazon ECS.
“Customers can easily expand from one to thousands of containers, but
building monitoring solutions for applications that span many containers
across large clusters can be an extremely time consuming, complicated
and expensive process,” said Matt Garman, Vice President of Amazon EC2,
Amazon Web Services, Inc. “Datadog gives DevOps teams a very simple and
cost-effective way to properly monitor how containers are running on
Amazon ECS, and ensure the optimal performance and management of
container applications.”
Enhancements to Datadog Platform for Amazon ECS Support
-
Provides real-time visibility into the health of your Docker-powered
service, regardless of how your infrastructure is scaling or evolving;
-
Slices infrastructure at runtime with ad-hoc parameters for visibility
into resource usage, response times, errors, and more, and to isolate
issues;
-
Automatically tracks containers as they come online or terminate;
-
Monitors containers and the services they are running with Datadog’s
100+ vendor-supported, turn-key integrations;
-
Leverages Datadog’s flexible and expressive alerting system for
immediate notification about any Docker-powered service
underperformance.
Datadog is a Diamond sponsor at the Amazon
Web Services (AWS) re:Invent annual user conference, October 6-9,
2015. See a live demonstration of Datadog at AWS booth #212 on the Expo
