ESG Lab Report Validates the Performance Benefits of Using SIOS iQ Machine Learning Analytics With FlashSoft Software From SanDisk to Accelerate Performance in Virtual Machines

SIOS Technology Corp., a leading provider of software products that maximize availability and efficiency of virtualized environments, today announced that Enterprise Strategy Group (ESG), a leading IT research, analysis and strategy firm, validated the performance, ease of use, and accuracy benefits of using SIOS iQ machine learning-based IT operations analytics. In its Lab Spotlight Report: SIOS iQ & FlashSoft software: Analytics-driven Server Acceleration, ESG confirms SIOS iQ enables IT staff to identify the causes of application performance issues and determine the optimal use of caching to maximize performance all in a single click. SIOS iQ software identifies ideal candidate virtual machines (VMs) for performance acceleration using SanDisk FlashSoft host-based caching software, Fusion ioMemory enterprise PCIe application accelerators and SanDisk enterprise SAS and SATA solid-state drives (SSDs).

Using the recommendations made by the SIOS iQ analytics software, ESG Lab optimally configured the FlashSoft caching software and observed performance accelerations from 2x to more than 60x. ESG also validated that the SIOS iQ analytics software accurately predicted the resulting performance improvements from the use of recommended host based caching configurations.

“ESG Lab confirmed that SIOS iQ provided accurate, actionable intelligence on application and server performance,” said Nik Rouda, senior analyst, Enterprise Strategy Group. “By using SIOS iQ to guide SanDisk FlashSoft deployment, administrators can save time and money by quickly identifying which applications will benefit the most from host-based caching, and configuring the environment for optimized efficiency. The SIOS PERC Dashboard provided clear and concise server-by-server IT operations analytics and illustrated the specific performance improvements that caching could deliver.”

The SIOS and SanDisk solutions address the increasing need for easier, more cost-efficient ways to identify and resolve root causes of performance issues in large, complex virtual and cloud environments. Host-based caching with FlashSoft software utilizing SanDisk’s Fusion ioMemory PCIe application accelerators and SSDs provides significantly greater performance and provides a far more cost-efficient solution than approaches using all-flash storage arrays or storage systems with SSDs as caching tiers.

“FlashSoft software for host-based caching is a perfect use case example of advanced analytics,” said Jerry Melnick, COO, SIOS Technology. “We’re removing the guesswork that IT admins typically face when attempting to address performance issues. By broadly capturing data across the infrastructure and application tiers and applying advanced data mining and machine technologies, we are able to quickly and accurately identify workloads that will benefit most from the use of caching to eliminate storage bottlenecks. In a single click we prioritize candidates and recommend the ideal configuration for the FlashSoft host-based caching technology to dramatically improve storage performance and get the most value out of what organizations already have in their infrastructure.”

“Customers see our benchmarks and the performance improvements SanDisk can deliver to their virtual environments and they often want to get a sense of what benefits they will see with their specific applications in their production environments,” said Rich Petersen, Director of Product Management, Software Solutions, SanDisk. “Customers can use SIOS iQ to analyze their applications, identify hot spots and make exact predictions about how FlashSoft software can be applied to their environment, showing precisely where performance improvements will be realized before they even get started.”
