Avanan Exits Stealth With Cloud Security That Finally Makes Sense

Avanan exited stealth today with a new technology that is transforming the cybersecurity industry: one-click deployment of the industry's most advanced security technologies from all leading vendors, now easily implemented for enterprise data in the cloud.

Avanan's cloud security platform protects Office 365, Box, Google or any other enterprise SaaS application by offering cloud-based versions of best-of-breed technology from more than 60 leading vendors like Check Point, Symantec and Palo Alto Networks. With a click of a button, you can now deploy Malware Scanning, Advanced Threat Protection, Data Leakage Prevention, Anomaly Detection, Encryption, Cloud Access Control, File Sanitization, Shadow IT Detection, Shadow SaaS Protection and more. Avanan is the only SaaS security solution to provide the complete security stack with proven technologies.

"We came from the world of network security, where our customers told us that their data was moving to the cloud, but the security offered by ‘cloud access security brokers (CASB)' was limited to a few young startups with immature and proprietary technologies. As we have seen in security, no single vendor has ever been able to provide best of breed in all technologies, so, we set out to solve the problem with a completely different approach-creating a platform that interoperates any security with any cloud. All with a click of a button," said Gil Friedrich, co-founder and CEO of Avanan.

In the few weeks that it has been available, the technology has been quickly adopted by more than 20 customers including U.S. Fortune 500 and NASDAQ-traded tech companies, as well as large universities and hospitals. Coming out of stealth, Avanan participated and won the first place prize at Geektime 2015, the largest startup conference held in Israel. Avanan's HQ is in New York City, and the R&D facility is in Tel-Aviv, Israel.

Avanan is founded by the same team that led one of Israel's largest security companies, ForeScout Technologies, to pivot into Network Access Control and become the leader of the market.

Avanan is backed by Magma VC and StageOne, two leading Israeli venture capital firms.

"When we met Avanan, it was the first cloud security that finally made sense. Because it relies on best-of-breed technologies, out of the gate it provides a level of cloud security that is better than all the existing solutions. We believe that this is the future of security," said Tal Slobodkin, managing partner at StageOne Ventures and former lead of Cisco's corporate M&A and Investment activities.
