Mirantis, the pure-play OpenStack company, today announced that it is a founding member of Open Source MANO (OSM), a community focused on delivering Open Source Management and Orchestration (MANO) aligned with ETSI NFV Information Models.

Mirantis joins 23 service providers and solution vendors in building a service provider-led community to unlock Communications Service Providers (CSPs) from expensive proprietary hardware, enabling them to increase average revenue per user (ARPU) and service agility by launching new services with greater velocity while lowering cost and meeting the requirements of production NFV networks using the common Information Model (IM) that has been defined, implemented and released in open source software.

The formation of OSM will unite us in driving projects like Murano forward.”

It is the first OpenStack public cloud solution to be offered in MEA.

OSM supports Resource Orchestration (RO) and Service Orchestration (SO), which Mirantis will augment with Fuel, an OpenStack project sparked by Mirantis, the de-facto installer for OPNFV and one of two default installers for Openstack.

Additionally, Mirantis will contribute Murano application catalog models along with open source software which is currently used in production NFV deployments to help accelerate OSM’s Resource and Service Orchestrators. Mirantis, one of the Openstack Foundation Board members, is working on creating a liaison between ETSI’s OSM and Openstack’s Murano Project.
