Shadow-Soft, the Open Source system
integration experts, today announced immediate availability of
NexxoData, a new compute stack specifically engineered to accelerate SQL
deployments and cost effectively protect SQL data for greater business
impact.
NexxoData is the first converged
infrastructure that enables enterprises to seamlessly migrate from
proprietary databases to enterprise-grade open source Postgres on
affordable, multi-protocol flash or hybrid storage. It combines
leading-edge storage array technology from Tegile Systems and Cisco UCS
into a single system optimized for running EnterpriseDB Postgres
Database. The resulting solution is designed to avoid the high
acquisition costs, operating expenses and software licensing and
maintenance of legacy converged systems.
"Our partnership with EnterpriseDB and Tegile
provides the core technology for our latest converged solution,
NexxoData, which seeks to give customers an alternative to traditional
proprietary offerings," said Tony Stafford, Vice President of Technical
Solutions at Shadow-Soft. "An enterprise open source approach and
cost-effective design make it a great fit to our solution and
professional services portfolio."
With NexxoData, enterprises have the ability
to scale compute and storage resources independently. Unlike traditional
converged infrastructure solutions that are too expensive to support
lower tier applications, NexxoData allows enterprises to consolidate any
and all application workloads in a single flash storage platform. As a
result, enterprises attain an effective cost structure for both mission
critical and lower-tier applications.
"Over two thirds of Tegile customers are
running databases on our arrays," said Rob Commins, Vice President of
Marketing at Tegile Systems. "Through the partnership with Shadow-Soft
and EnterpriseDB, customers gain access to a converged system that will
accelerate their applications while avoiding the daunting costs of
legacy infrastructure."
"Our customers are looking for
enterprise-class open source alternatives to traditional stacks in order
to gain greater efficiencies in their IT environments," said Lenley
Hensarling, Senior Vice President, Product Management and Strategy at
EDB. "EDB is delighted that ShadowSoft chose EDB Postgres to work with
NexxoData in order to bring its converged infrastructure to our
customers."
