It's no secret that the IBM-VMware partnership is one of the
oldest, best, and most productive in the technology industry. IBM and
VMware have been partners and customers of each other's products and
services for 14 years. But with the recent announcement of a strategic partnership
centered on accelerating enterprise hybrid cloud adoption, the two
industry leaders are taking their relationship to a new level for the
mutual benefit of their customers.

The
new partnership responds to the demands of enterprise customers for a
more cloud-like experience with their current on-premise network
operations. The challenge is that customers want the benefits of the
cloud but are concerned about security, control, and compliance issues
that moving to the cloud might entail.
Customers are concerned
that this move may mean significant change in the way their IT teams
have traditionally managed and operated their on-premise networks.
Enterprise customers want to manage their networks and cloud workloads
with familiar management tools. New systems and new processes can be a
hurdle; familiar is faster, but not always better.
