Customers of Rackspace OpenStack private cloud solutions will benefit from cloud service optimization technology developed by AppFormix. In a relationship announced today at the OpenStack Summit in Austin, Texas, the two companies are working to include the AppFormix software platform to further enhance the operational support of private clouds deployed by Rackspace. Rackspace will license AppFormix software and integrate it as part of its OpenStack private cloud solutions.

This solution means that users of OpenStack private clouds managed by Rackspace will have access to cloud service optimization tools that improve application performance through real-time monitoring and analytics. AppFormix software will give Rackspace cloud users an interactive dashboard to monitor performance and establish dynamic rules for workload allocation to infrastructure resources capable of tuning performance to predefined service levels.

The AppFormix dashboard gives cloud infrastructure operators and application developers a common interface to monitor and manage application performance in real time. The AppFormix software also provides sophisticated hardware capacity planning tools that help predict when and where additional resources will be needed, before constraints occur.

This relationship makes Rackspace the first cloud service provider to deliver a new level of cloud optimization by offering complete workload isolation using Intel Resource Director Technology (RDT). In March, AppFormix and Intel announced a deal to integrate AppFormix software into Intel's newest processor family, leveraging Intel RDT to manage workloads and containers at the processor level.
