Coho Data, a leading innovator in scale-out flash
storage for the enterprise, today announced support for OpenStack on
DataStream and that the Coho Cinder driver is part of the OpenStack
Mitaka released earlier this month.
With Coho's DataStream
Cinder API integration, organizations can build OpenStack block storage
infrastructure that dynamically scales both performance and capacity in
response to application demands.
The Coho DataStream architecture is designed for
cloud infrastructures and its unique SDN integration provides network
optimized workload distribution and parallelization to support the
scalability requirements of cloud-based applications. Coho Data will be
demonstrating the new support and current products at OpenStack Summit
2016 from April 25 to 29 in booth C27 in the Marketplace Expo Hall.
Scale-out Cinder Storage
Unlike traditional monolithic storage or existing
cinder block solutions, the Coho DataStream meets OpenStack's primary
design requirements by offering horizontal scalability, shared-nothing
architecture and the ability to distribute everything, enabling an
organization's business agility and increasing operational efficiency
using OpenStack cloud infrastructure.
"Most enterprise storage systems stand as a stark
counterexample to the operational efficiency and elasticity of
infrastructure OpenStack is designed to achieve," said Andy Warfield,
CTO, Coho Data. "Coho's Cinder integration brings a block storage
solution that effortlessly scales on demand and that integrates deeply
with datacenter networking to continuously adapt performance in response
to workload demands. I've been excited to see our system used to build
successful enterprise private cloud environments for OpenStack
customers and I look forward to continuing to broaden our support for
other OpenStack APIs as we continue to work with this community."
Coho's unique per-virtual machine (VM) visibility
feature for VMware® vSphere® environments also supports OpenStack
environments. It provides OpenStack VM instance level real-time
performance analytics through both Coho's REST API and web-based
Management UI to help organizations simplify performance
troubleshooting.
Additionally, the Coho DataStream Cinder API integration offers:
- Scalability to ensure business agility - providing users with seamless and horizontal scaling in response to both capacity and performance demands;
- Simplicity to enable operational efficiency -
offering enterprises the ability to set up and make their storage
operational in 15 minutes and to seamlessly expand or upgrade to next
generation storage nodes without the need for forklift upgrades; and,
- Unparalleled Performance -
allowing users to run performance sensitive workloads at large scale on
commodity storage servers that are populated with dense SSD flash.
Coho's SDN integration optimizes storage network throughput and
intelligent automates data placement decisions to get maximum
utilization of storage resources.
