Cloud Foundry Foundation,
home of the industry-standard multi-cloud platform, today launched a
new Fellowship program. The program is designed to solicit select
expertise from member companies to help drive critical Cloud Foundry
needs. Abby Kearns of Pivotal will join Cloud Foundry as Vice President,
Industry Strategy to drive ecosystem and content strategy for Cloud
Foundry.
The Cloud Foundry Foundation Fellowship program draws
from the Foundation community to contribute focused resources for a
period of time to work on targeted initiatives. The program will
strengthen membership value and engagement for and within the Cloud
Foundry community.
"Abby brings an important first-hand knowledge
of the customer point of view thanks to her time at Pivotal, which is
critical in an industry strategy role," said Cloud Foundry CEO Sam
Ramji. "She will help the Foundation build an ecosystem to support the
current and future user community, bringing her wealth of knowledge of
the Cloud Foundry community with her."
Cloud Foundry has been
developed through the collective effort of Pivotal, IBM, EMC, SAP, HPE
and leaders in manufacturing, telecommunications and financial services.
Only Cloud Foundry delivers the velocity needed to develop apps at the
speed of business. Cloud Foundry's container-based architecture runs
apps in any language on any cloud -- Amazon Web Services (AWS),
Microsoft Azure, Google Compute Platform (GCP), OpenStack, VMware
vSphere, and more. With a robust services ecosystem and simple
integration to existing technologies, Cloud Foundry is the modern
standard for mission critical apps for global enterprises.
"By
taking a unique 'think tank' approach in the Cloud Foundry Foundation,
we have visibility across an entire industry, and focus on driving the
best outcome for the ecosystem as a whole," said Abby Kearns. "I'm
honored to be the first of many fellows to help drive the adoption of
multi-cloud environments in the world's largest enterprises."
In
her role at Cloud Foundry Foundation, Abby brings her wealth of
experience as a leader in the technology and cloud services
organizations at Verizon, and most recently as a member of the
customer-facing product management team at Pivotal. She will lead the
Industry Special Interest Groups (SIGs) and the User Advisory Board.
Currently, the Industry SIGs include Financial Services, Internet of
Things and Service Providers, with more coming later in 2016. She will
also be driving the core content strategy.
