Qumu Brings the Video Revolution to VDI Desktops

Qumu, the leader in enterprise video, today announced that it has received orders for Qumu’s Video Optimization Pack for Citrix, that has been verified as Citrix Ready for XenApp and XenDesktop, that will enable over 130,000 users of virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) desktops to participate in high-quality video communication and collaboration.

Enterprises employ tens of millions of VDI desktops throughout their organizations. VDI endpoints are valuable for their efficiency, but that same efficiency results in a poor video viewing experience. As organizations increasingly adopt video for communication and collaboration, video viewing experience is changing from an annoyance to a significant business problem.

In May of 2015, Qumu announced the Video Optimization Pack for Citrix XenApp app virtualization and XenDesktop infrastructures. This solution combines a Qumu video player for VDI and Qumu video delivery framework to provide optimal delivery of video to virtual desktops and applications on the corporate network. Since then, a significant number of current and prospective Qumu customers have deployed or are in the process of deploying the Optimization Pack.

“VDI is a strategic technology for Kroger, given our widely distributed workforce,” said Matt Bader, operations manager at Kroger. “With Qumu’s Video Optimization Pack for Citrix, our VDI users can fully participate in the growing video conversation that is so important to our company’s culture. Video experience is as good for VDI users as for everyone else.”

“Qumu believes in making communication richer and more powerful for everyone,” said Vern Hanzlik, president and CEO of Qumu. “Qumu’s Video Optimization Pack for Citrix overcomes the limitations of playing video in VDI environments, and supports our customers’ digital transformation strategies to bring video to every employee on every device. As a leader in expanding the use of video in the enterprise, it’s gratifying to know that enterprise VDI users are able to tap into the full power of video in their companies, accelerating knowledge transfer and improving worker effectiveness through enhanced communications.”
