Oracle VM VirtualBox 5.0.22 Available for Download

Oracle VM VirtualBox is a powerful Cross-platform Virtualization software solution for x86-based systems.  "Cross-platform" means that it installs on Windows, Linux, Mac OS X and Solaris x86 computers.  So it provides users with a wide host of platform options on which to install.  Once installed, the Virtualization software side allows you to create and run multiple Virtual Machines, running different operating systems, on the same computer at the same time.  So if you're a Windows person but want to run a Linux OS, you have an easy method of installing a Linux operating system inside a VM on top of your Windows machine.

VirtualBox is available as Open Source or pre-built Binaries for Windows, Linux, Mac OS X and Solaris.

The latest version of Oracle VM VirtualBox has just been released - VirtualBox 5.0 Maintenance Release 22.  This release is a major improvement and includes a large number of updates and bug fixes, some of which include:

  • VMM: fixes for certain Intel Atom hosts
  • VMM: properly restore the complete FPU state for 32-bit guests on 64-bit hosts on Intel Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge CPUs
  • VMM: fixed a potential Linux guest panic on AMD hosts
  • GUI: warn if the VM has less than 128MB VRAM configured and 3D enabled
  • Guest Additions: fixes for Kernel 4.7
  • Windows Hosts: fixed performance regression with SMP guests
  • VGA: fix for a problem which made certain legacy guests crash under certain conditions
See all the details here with a complete list of bug fixes; here you can find all the links to download the software.
