Within the framework
of an extensive project designed to successfully evolve its information system
and redefine its process of application publication, the group Picoty,
accompanied by computer company Gamac, decided to change its virtualization
solution.
I had a chance to speak with them and found out that their existing solution
did not meet the requirements of the group anymore. Picoty said they needed a solution that was less
expensive and required less attention to be fully operational.
The extent of the
project consisted of centralizing and publishing the management solutions (two
of which Divalto, ERP) and various applications such as email.
Picoty told me that they decided to
switch to AppliDis which combines both application and desktop virtualization,
allowing them to deliver to their users applications in remote, personalized and
totally secured mode, on all types of devices (fixed and mobile).
Better yet, the group said they did not have
to redesign or replace their environment as AppliDis was easy to integrate
and it didn't require touching the existing infrastructure.
Furthermore, AppliDis allowed them to deliver applications in remote mode from any sites, making them
available for users, operators and administrative staff through a single web
portal.
An added bonus was the addition of the printing
module of AppliDis which allowed them to manage the printing more easily across the park
composed of heterogeneous material. More specifically, the module made
printing much easier and faster as it reduced the size of printing files
transiting through the servers and printers, allowing advanced settings to consider
the different client zones and the recovery of those printings after an error.
Last but not least,
Picoty and Gamac now benefit from a tailored infrastructure which allows them
to develop their "private cloud" project quickly, while controlling the tool.
