FusionLayer Inc has today announced the certification of FusionLayer
Infinity, the Software-Defined IP Address Management (SD-IPAM) solution,
on Hewlett Packard Enterprise’s NFV Infrastructure (NFV-I) and HPE
OpenStack Carrier Grade virtualization platform. When run in parallel
with HPE NFV-I, FusionLayer Infinity enables standardized deployment
process of Virtual Network Function (VNF) instances in both traditional
and software-defined networks.
TM Forum and European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) have
established a set of best practices for NFV. One of the recommendations
is that the release parameters assigned for the VNFs use Unique
Identifiers (UID) as opposed to traditional names. A key benefit of
FusionLayer solution is that it automates the provisioning of IP
addresses, UIDs as well as names, and can push the assigned UIDs and
other parameters into Domain Name System (DNS) in real time.
Juha Holkkola, CEO of FusionLayer commented: “Communication Service
Providers around the world are developing new on-demand services that
leverage emerging technologies such as cloud and Network Functions
Virtualization. When run alongside HPE NFV-I and OpenStack Carrier
Grade, FusionLayer Infinity allows CSPs to standardize release parameter
provisioning for NFV regardless of whether the VNFs are deployed in
traditional or software-defined networks. This enables service providers
to introduce new innovative services at the speed of business.”
In addition to enabling unified release parameter provisioning in CSP
environments, FusionLayer Infinity’s patented business logic also allows
CSPs to manage all networks within a single solution. This is an
important consideration when moving cloud stacks from testing into
production, as overlap between the networks used for service
provisioning is a certain source of service downtime.
“Simplifying NFV deployment and bringing added value to the entire
ecosystem for our customers are the core goals of the Open NFV Partner
Program,” said Werner Schaefer, VP Sales & GTM, Communications Solutions
Business, Hewlett Packard Enterprise. “It is exciting to see independent
software vendors (ISVs), such as FusionLayer, being able to deliver and
align together with our goals.”
FusionLayer Infinity and FusionLayer DNS for HPE NFV-I and HPE OpenStack
Carrier Grade are available immediately.
