Avi
Networks today
announced that the Avi Vantage Platform has been accepted into the
Docker Certification Program, a framework for partners to integrate and
certify their technology to the Docker Enterprise Edition (EE)
commercial platform. The certification validates the power of Avi
Networks' Vantage Platform at automating application services in
microservices architectures and container-based environments. It also
expands Avi's position as the standard for building modern applications
architectures where traditional load balancing appliances are ill suited
and ineffective.
"We
would like to congratulate Avi Networks on their acceptance into the
Docker Certification Program," said Marianna Tessel, EVP, Strategic
Development. "Enterprise IT teams are looking to Docker to provide
recommendations and assurances on the ecosystem of container content,
infrastructure and extensions. Avi Networks' inclusion into the program
indicates that the Avi Vantage Platform has been tested and verified by
Docker, confirming for customers that the container images have been
evaluated for security and are supported and built according to best
practices."
Application-centric
enterprises are increasingly choosing microservices architectures to
optimize app performance and improve agility. Containers enable those
microservices architectures by breaking large applications into smaller
services that can be deployed, developed and updated independently
without causing major outages. But while microservices applications
offer several advantages compared to monolithic applications, IT
departments are challenged when it comes to providing application
services including traffic management and security due to the
limitations of traditional appliance-based load balancers and open
source proxies. The appliances are not built to support the granular
application services required to handle the vast amount of east-west
traffic between the microservices, while the proxies have neither the
features nor scale that enterprises demand.
The
Avi Vantage platform adapts application services to dynamic
container-based environments, empowering IT administrators with
next-generation load balancing tools that provide central management,
multi-cloud traffic management as well as highly scalable, automated
application services. By integrating the Avi Vantage Platform with
Docker built-in orchestration also known as swarm mode, Avi Networks is
providing customers with container and application services that:
- Simplify deployment with central control
- Monitor inter-service performance and reduce troubleshooting effort
- Secure microservices with micro-segmentation
- Visualize relationships between service components
- Predictively autoscale load balancers and apps based on traffic patterns
"Customers
rely on Avi Networks to deliver highly scalable, flexible and high
performance application services that can be deployed and easily managed
across hybrid and multi-cloud environments at unmatched cost," said
Edward Sharp, VP of Business Development and Chief Strategy Officer at
Avi Networks. "By continuing to work closely with Docker, Avi Networks
can extend the power of software-defined load balancing to even more
app-centric businesses that are deploying microservices in Docker
container-based environments."
