Are you attending DockerCon 2017 in Austin, TX next month? If so, I invite you to add Aqua to your MUST SEE list of vendors.
Aqua was founded by IT security
veterans from companies including Intel Security, CA Technologies, and
Imperva. With containers being the next major disruption in datacenter
and application technology, they recognized that containerized
environments create new challenges in security, but also present an
opportunity to reinvent application security - more effectively and more
efficiently than ever.
Read VMblog's exclusive pre-show interview with Aqua to learn what they have planned for the upcoming event.
VMblog: As a DockerCon 2017 sponsor, how can people find you at this year's DockerCon event?
Aqua: We are thrilled to come to Austin this year. We will be at
booth #S23, and you can find your way to our booth by looking for the team with
the blue drones!
VMblog: Why should a DockerCon attendee add you to their must see list?
Aqua: No enterprise would use Docker containers in production
without ensuring that security policies can be enforced at every level of the
deployment. While Docker does not in itself pose a security risk, the
technology changes the way that applications are developed and deployed, making
traditional security tools largely ineffective in preventing vulnerabilities
and attacks on the application.
Aqua makes container security simple with a complete set of automated features
that allow our customers to accelerate application development and adopt DevOps
practices, while ensuring the highest level of security and compliance. We will
have some of those customers at our booth during the conference, to speak to
those interested in hearing about their deployment challenges and how they
implemented security with Aqua.
VMblog: And if an attendee likes what they see and hear at your booth, what
message can you send them back with to sell their boss on
your technology?
Aqua: Aqua's security platform for Docker container-based
applications is the most comprehensive solution on the market today. With features that include risk management
for the container development pipeline, full CI/CD automation, advanced runtime
defenses that include automated profiling of container behavior, network
nano-segmentation for containers, and secrets management, it simplifies the
process securing containerized applications and removes obstacles to adopting
Docker in the enterprise.
VMblog: Can you give VMblog readers a sneak peek as to what you will be
showing off at your booth this year?
Aqua: We will talk about the Aqua Container Security Platform
2.0, the most comprehensive security solution on the market today for
containerized applications. We will also have customers available at our booth
to talk about their experiences with securing container deployments and working
with Aqua.
VMblog: If you would, please explain or give readers a few reasons why your
product or service is considered unique?
Aqua: With proven success in large-scale production environments,
Aqua's container security platform is the most comprehensive and field-tested
security solution for container-based applications. Our team of more than 45
dedicated professionals keep pushing the boundaries and working jointly with
our design-partner customers to make their container deployments as secure as
possible, removing many of the security and compliance obstacles to adoption.
VMblog: Is this your first DockerCon event as a sponsor?
Aqua: This is our second time sponsoring DockerCon NA, but we
also sponsored DockerCon Europe in Barcelona 2 years ago. The event is
invaluable in getting up to speed on all things Docker, and the level of
engagement and enthusiasm that attendees bring is contagious.
VMblog: What are you looking
forward to most at this year's event?
Aqua: DockerCon is a unique event not only in its focus on Docker
and container technology, but in the unparalleled enthusiasm and engagement of
attendees. People come to DockerCon to really learn and talk to peers, vendors
and partners, which makes this both a very intensive as well as a very
rewarding event.
VMblog: And what would you
say to prospective attendees who are thinking about attending DockerCon but
aren't sure if it's worth it or not?
Aqua: DockerCon is definitely THE place to be if you're thinking
about or already using containers. DevOps, developers, architects and security
professionals can all benefit from hearing the latest best practices and news
in the containers ecosystem.
VMblog: Can you share any tips for first time attendees?
Aqua: Plan your visit in advance, sleep well the night before,
attend the party (it's great!), and of course check out the expo - it's not too
big and full of innovative vendors and great giveaways.
VMblog: People always
enjoy a good trade show tchotchke. Are
you giving away anything special or interesting this year?
Aqua: Yes! This year, based on last year's HUGE success, we're coming in with 101
radio-controlled drones. 100 drones will be raffled off at our booth to anyone
willing to put their hand into a black bag and take out an aqua-colored cube.
But additionally, one very lucky person will win the top 'prosumer' drone on
the market: The DJI Mavic Pro!
What you need to do: Take this survey
and visit the Aqua booth #S23 on day 2 of DockerCon at 3:40PM for the draw!
VMblog: Finally, does your company
have any speaking sessions during the show?
If so, can you give us the who, what, when and where?
Aqua: Yes. Liz Rice, Aqua's Technology Evangelist, will be speaking
on "What Have Namespaces Done For You Lately?" Tuesday, Apr 18, 4:15
PM - 4:55 PM: Containers are made with
namespacing and cgroups, but what does that really mean? In this talk we'll
write a container from scratch in Go, using bare system calls, and explore how
the different namespaces affect the container's view of the world and the
resources it has access to.

##
As you build out your DockerCon 2017 schedule, make sure to save some time to visit with Aqua at the show. It is definitely a good idea to add a security platform that is field-tested for your company's container-based applications -- and the Aqua team will be standing by at booth #S23 to give you the run down.
