The Cloud Standards Customer Council (CSCC) has published a new cloud reference architecture for creating blockchain applications. Cloud Customer Architecture for Blockchain is available for download at: http://www.cloud-council.org/deliverables/cloud-customer-architecture-for-blockchain.htm.
Blockchain technology, at its core, features an immutable distributed ledger and a decentralized network that is cryptographically secured. A blockchain is a historical record of all the transactions that have taken place in the network since the beginning of the blockchain. The blockchain serves as a single source of truth for the network.
Blockchain technology has the potential to have a major impact on how institutions process transactions and conduct business. It has the potential to reduce operational costs and friction, create transaction records that are secure and immutable, enable transparent ledgers with nearly instant updates, and open up new opportunities for growth.
Key sections of the CSCC's whitepaper include:
- Blockchain fundamentals
- Key characteristics of a blockchain network
- Blockchain reference architecture capabilities
- An example supply chain scenario
- Cloud deployment considerations
- Specific examples of blockchain applications
Authors from the CSCC will host a complimentary webinar on July 18 from 11:00am - 12:00pm ET to introduce the paper. Event details are posted on the CSCC's website at www.cloud-council.org/events.
