Zadara Storage, a provider of enterprise-class storage-as-a-service (STaaS), today announced that it has expanded the availability of its award-winning VPSA Storage Array service
to both Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Equinix in Singapore, adding a
fifth APAC AWS region to the already existing VPSA services in Japan,
China, South Korea and Australia. The Singapore location is Zadara's 13th AWS
region worldwide and is enabled through a value-added relationship with
Equinix. This expansion builds on Zadara's already widespread
activities in Australia, China, India, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia,
Philippines and Taiwan.
Industry
research shows an accelerating transition from traditional CapEx
purchases to OpEx-based storage services. Both service providers and
end-users are recognizing the significant functional and economic
benefits of storage-as-a-service. According to market research firm IT
Brand Pulse, by the year 2020 storage-as-a-service will account for
approximately 50% of the overall $50B enterprise storage market.
With this expansion, Zadara is now able to provide customers of both AWS and Equinix the full enterprise suite of Zadara Storage Cloud offerings.
Both Singapore-based businesses, and global companies with a presence
in Singapore can enjoy the benefits of pure OpEx-based, enterprise
storage-as-a-service. AWS and Equinix users also have the option to
automatically replicate data between any of the Zadara locations
worldwide.
"Our
latest expansion in Singapore is in response to the strong demand for
Zadara Storage services in the local region," said Noam Shendar, vice
president and GM, Hyperscale Cloud Business, at Zadara Storage. "We are
thrilled to be making the award-winning Zadara Storage Cloud more widely
available to AWS and Equinix customers who wish to leverage
enterprise-grade storage services and abandon the older CapEx model of
purchasing storage hardware."
"Zadara's
announcement to support AWS Singapore will enable Capiteq to offer
greater data security to our finance customers," said Marco Rayner,
managing director for Capiteq. "Capiteq now has the ability to ensure
our customer data stays in Singapore - protected and encrypted - with
the end user holding the keys."
"We
have monitored the transition from CapEx to OpEx-based storage services
for many years and all indicators are that the market transition is
increasing," said Frank Berry, CEO, IT Brand Pulse. "Users have
recognized that pay-as-you-go data services have significant economic
and functional benefits that cannot be ignored. Zadara's expansion into
Singapore gives them greater worldwide coverage and provides more
options for their customers. The combination of AWS, Zadara Storage and
Equinix offers customers in all regions compelling benefits."
