Information Technology Shifts to Data Technology, and the Cloud in 2018
Commvault's management team has teamed up
to share their crystal ball view for 2018:
Bob Hammer, CEO
2018 will be the year that companies shift focus from Information Technology to Data Technology
In 2018, we will see a fundamental shift from Information Technology to Data Technology to accelerate digital transformation, reduce risk and improve business outcomes. This data-centric approach will enable businesses to optimize their adoption of
public, private and hybrid clouds to better prevent and recover from
cyberattacks, as well as to comply with GDPR and other data privacy
regulations, while gaining increased use of analytics for improved
business insights and results.
As
companies embrace the shift toward Data Technology in 2018, the need
for a holistic approach to data management and data-driven investments
will become an integral ingredient to drive continued innovation and
competitive differentiation.
Don Foster, Senior Director of Worldwide Solutions Marketing
2018 will be a major year for acquisitions. Cloud, infrastructure, data-focused and analytics companies will consolidate. With this, in order to remain relevant, legacy vendors will look to adapt to the increasingly hybrid world by acquiring new players.
Penny Gralewski, Solutions Marketing Lead, Cloud Data Management
Multi-cloud will increase, while IT streamlines management tools. IT budgets will likely be shifting from spending money on duplicate management systems - like legacy data backup, data recovery or disaster recovery point products - to instead diversify their cloud storage options. IT teams need to be able to move, manage and use that data across clouds. Commvault lets you backup and recover to the cloud, from the cloud and across clouds, the broadest flexibility available. When IT can turn off the maintenance fees on legacy point solutions that only manage 1 piece of the puzzle, they can choose to spend their budget on a comprehensive Commvault platform managing cloud and on-premises data - plus diversify their cloud storage.
