MicroStrategy
Incorporated, a leading worldwide provider of enterprise
analytics and mobility software, announced the availability of three new
gateways with its MicroStrategy
10.11 release that will enable MicroStrategy users to easily
visualize, analyze and distribute data using Microsoft Azure. Built in
collaboration with Microsoft, these gateways establish integrations and
workflows between the MicroStrategy 10 platform and Azure data and
analytics services. This announcement expands on MicroStrategy's
existing integrations with other Microsoft solutions, including Azure
IoT, Machine Learning and Power BI.
"Many of MicroStrategy's customers are on the journey to a cloud or
hybrid cloud infrastructure for data analytics and BI. We're deeply
committed to ensuring that our customers and partners who rely on Azure
services can leverage MicroStrategy to modernize their cloud
strategies," said Tim Lang, Senior Executive Vice President and Chief
Technology Officer, MicroStrategy Incorporated. "Building gateways to
Azure data stores demonstrates MicroStrategy's commitment to extending
our open, powerful and comprehensive analytics platform into the broader
enterprise ecosystem."
With organizations quickly transitioning their data strategies from
existing on-premises deployments to the cloud, the new integrations with
MicroStrategy deliver more options to the world's leading cloud storage
systems, allowing them to build powerful cloud-based analytics and
mobility applications. MicroStrategy provides the flexibility to pick
and choose the best data storage engine or compliment it with other
processing engines. The complete breadth of these Azure services helps
MicroStrategy customers to dynamically scale, deploy faster and build
affordable cost-effective applications.
The three new optimized gateways for Microsoft Azure services include
Azure HDInsight, SQL Data Warehouse, and Cosmos DB. With MicroStrategy
10.11, these connectors are available out-of-the-box on MicroStrategy
WebTM and MicroStrategy DesktopTM for Windows.
Microsoft Azure HDInsight: Azure HDInsight is a fully-managed
cloud service that makes it easy, fast, and cost-effective to process
massive amounts of data. MicroStrategy's connector to the service
enables MicroStrategy Web and MicroStrategy Desktop based connectivity
workflows for Azure HDInsight through the MicroStrategy ODBC Driver for
Hive.
Microsoft Azure SQL Data Warehouse: Azure SQL Data Warehouse is a
cloud-based Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) that leverages Massively
Parallel Processing (MPP) to quickly run complex queries across
petabytes of data. MicroStrategy's connector enables MicroStrategy Web
and MicroStrategy Desktop based connectivity workflows and enhances the
Relational Engine with support for Azure SQL Data Warehouse.
Microsoft Azure Cosmos DB: Azure Cosmos DB is a globally
distributed, multi-model database that enables users to manage data at
planet-scale. MicroStrategy's connector enables MicroStrategy Web and
MicroStrategy Desktop based connectivity workflows and enhances the
Relational Engine with support for Azure Cosmos DB.
"Enterprises today are more focused than ever on leveraging all
available assets and critical information to build a smarter, more
efficient business," said John ‘JG' Chirapurath, general manager of Data
Platform Marketing, Microsoft Corp. "The new connectors between Azure
and MicroStrategy 10 will help to meet the data discovery and analytical
demands of our joint customers by providing them easy access to the
latest and fastest enterprise technology."
