Since 2015, Alibaba Cloud and EnterpriseDB (EDB)
have partnered on cloud database products that have been brought to
market by Alibaba. As part of that initial partnership, Alibaba launched
ApsaraDB for PPAS, a relational database as a service based on Alibaba
Cloud Apsara architecture and EDB Postgres Advanced Server. Alibaba
Cloud will strengthen its partnership with EDB to provide global users
enhanced Postgres cloud database services and products.
EnterpriseDB provides Oracle compatibility to
enhance the world's favorite open source relational database management
system (RDBMS), PostgreSQL. EnterpriseDB's customers include many of the
leading Fortune 500 companies, providing them with enterprise-class
solutions based on Postgres. EDB Postgres helps users reduce the
technical difficulty of migrating from enterprise database management
systems like Oracle to Postgres, dramatically reducing overall total
cost of ownership (TCO).
"Making it easy for users to migrate databases to
the cloud is critical to greater adoption of cloud computing," said
Simon Hu, president of Alibaba Cloud. "Through our expanded technical
collaboration with EnterpriseDB, we will strengthen the integration of
ApsaraDB and EDB Postgres and provide users with enterprise-class
database products and solutions in the Alibaba Cloud."
"Over the last three years, Alibaba Cloud has
been an important partner for EnterpriseDB. This expanded technical
collaboration will deliver greater value to customers on the Alibaba
Cloud," said Ed Boyajian, president and CEO, EnterpriseDB. "Moving
forward, this gives us a better way to serve customers in China and
beyond."
