Sauce
Labs, Inc., provider of the world's largest
continuous testing cloud for web and mobile applications, today announced Sauce
Headless, a new, industry-first offering that provides cloud-based headless
browser testing on containers. Designed with development teams in mind, Sauce
Headless will give developers instant access to fast and reliable test results
at a cost effective price point.
According
to Stack Overflow's latest Developer Survey,
85% of respondents are now using agile software development practices. This
change in software development gave rise to continuous testing, a best practice
of applying automated testing throughout the software development process
instead of just at the end. But testing in the early stages of the software
development process is different than testing before deployment. With Sauce
Headless, developers will have access to a lightweight cloud-based
infrastructure they need to run a high volume of tests early in the development
cycle and receive instant feedback on the quality of their code.
"The
testing landscape has changed dramatically in the last year, thanks in large
part to the movement to shift testing to earlier in the development pipeline,"
said Lubos Parobek, VP of Product at Sauce Labs. "Catching bugs earlier reduces
costs, improves quality and increases developer productivity. Sauce Headless is
an exciting new offering that will allow developers to test on every commit.
Combining this industry-first headless solution with our industry-leading cross
browser and mobile app testing makes Sauce Labs the most comprehensive
continuous testing cloud available."
Sauce
Headless offers headless Chrome and Firefox browsers on Linux in a
container-based infrastructure to test web applications. The speed and
affordability of Sauce Headless makes it possible for organizations to test on
every commit and catch regressions earlier. This lightweight early testing
combined with Sauce Labs full cross browser testing later in the pipeline
provides a comprehensive approach that ensures bugs are caught early, and that
applications are compatible across all relevant platforms. Just as with virtual
machines, development teams don't have the time and resources to build,
troubleshoot, and manage a container-based testing grid on their own. Sauce
Labs is first-to-market with a cloud-based headless testing grid that allows
developers to achieve instant feedback and massive scale, without the pain of
managing any internal infrastructure.
"The
Sauce Labs Continuous Testing Cloud has allowed us to delight consumers as they
use our network of sites to find and enjoy their ideal home," said Abdur
Jubair, Automation Engineer of leading digital marketing solutions company
RentPath. "The introduction of Sauce Headless allows us to get test
results more quickly and ensure stable code earlier in the development process
as we focus on creating innovative features for our customers."
Sauce Headless will launch
in public beta for enterprise customers in January 2019. Customers interested
