Are you attending KubeCon 2018 in Seattle? If so, I invite you to add Hedvig to your MUST SEE list of vendors.
KubeCon 2018 is shaping up to be a fantastic event! And the number
of sponsoring vendors at this year's show is impressive. One of the
companies on VMblog's MUST SEE list this year is Hedvig. They are re-architecting software-defined storage and accelerating enterprise adoption of private and hybrid clouds. The Hedvig Distributed Storage Platform combines block, file, and object storage for bare metal, hypervisor, and container environments. And their claim to fame is their solution gets better and faster as it scales.
Read
this exclusive pre-show interview between VMblog and Hedvig to learn what they have
planned for the upcoming KubeCon North America 2018 event and why you need to visit their booth.
VMblog: As a KubeCon 2018 sponsor, how can people find you at the show?
Hedvig: We are located in Booth S3
as a Silver Sponsor. We have a 8x8 booth and we are sending 7 attendees to the
show to work the booth.
VMblog: If an attendee likes what they see and hear at your booth... what
message about your product can you send them back with to sell their boss on
your technology?
Hedvig: Scalable persistent storage
is the next big problem to solve in the container world and Hedvig is bringing
cloud-like enterprise-grade storage for containers. Hedvig's integrations with
Kubernetes provide dynamic volume provisioning for containers and seamlessly
moves storage as the containers move from one host to another.
VMblog: What are some of the reasons why you believe a KubeCon attendee should
add you to their MUST SEE list?
Hedvig: Compute, network, and
storage are three core components of any infrastructure. Containers are
targeting the compute layer optimization and Hedvig is solving the storage problem.
Together, they can bring private/hybrid/multi cloud infrastructures to a
reality.
VMblog: Have you sponsored KubeCon before?
What about this
event grabbed your attention?
Hedvig: This is our first event and
we believe this is the biggest Kubernetes conference in the US. Hedvig wants to be
the de-facto container-native storage solution and from what we have noticed in the
market, Kubernetes is leading the container orchestration solutions. Hedvig is aiming
to learn the future of storage requirements in the container world from the
attendees.
VMblog: Can you give VMblog readers a sneak peek as to what you will be
showing off at your booth? What should attendees expect to see and hear
at your booth?
Hedvig: Attendees should look for
the simplicity and flexibility of Hedvig's storage solution. They will realize
Hedvig has been providing a container-native storage solution for a few years
already and our customers are already successfully running Hedvig in production
for a long time.
VMblog: Thinking about your company, give readers a few reasons why your
product or service is considered unique.
Hedvig: Our mission is to make
enterprise storage cloud-easy. Traditional as well as new storage solutions are
not able to provide the flexibility needed by modern workloads. These workloads
are hybrid in nature from multiple perspectives. They consist of varying
workload profiles, executed in multiple locations, and need to be always ON.
Hedvig brings the cloud-like simplicity to storage consumption and web-like
scalability to all enterprise workloads.
VMblog: How does your company and product fit within the container or
cloud ecosystem?
Hedvig: We were the first
certified storage plugin published in the Docker store. Hedvig provides dynamic
volume provisioning for Docker, Kubernetes, Mesosphere, and RedHat OpenShift. This
enables container ecosystem to take a giant leap forward in delivering
production-ready stateful containers.
VMblog: What are you looking forward to most at this
year's event?
Hedvig: We want to convey Hedvig's potential as container-native storage.
We also want to understand what the attendees' expectations from any given
persistent storage solution for containers are.
VMblog: What do you think we need to do collectively as
an ecosystem to strengthen the industry?
Hedvig: We need to add as many open standards as possible for compute,
network, and storage so that all the vendors can easily support container
infrastructure and end users can avoid vendor lock-ins.
VMblog: What do you hope to come away with from
exhibiting at KubeCon? What does event success
look like to you?
Hedvig: We want to find the customers looking to run production ready
persistent workloads inside the containers.
VMblog: Do you have any tips for first time attendees
that you'd like to share?
Hedvig: We would recommend first time attendees to clearly understand the
different layers involved in a container infrastructure and how they interact
with each other, so that they can find the right set of solutions for their
projects.
VMblog: Finally, attendees always enjoy a good trade show tchotchke. Are you
guys giving away anything special or interesting this year?
Hedvig: We are giving away some Hedvig branded umbrellas along with some
branded T-shirts.
