The Rise of the Public Cloud

Accelerating cloud adoption will continue to drive growth in the public cloud services market as we enter the new year. As data continues to exponentially grow, enterprises are relying more on the cloud to enable their digital transformation. However, they will have to deal with more challenges to keep their business secure and up to speed.

N2WS sees 2019 as the year for the public cloud, specifically:

  • Backup and disaster recovery (DR) will be a major concern. Public cloud providers, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud or Microsoft Azure operate on a shared responsibility model. We've seen many businesses encounter data loss or downtime because they ignored their part of the deal. Data protection, security and compliance is the customers' responsibility, we expect companies relying on the public cloud to acknowledge that they are still exposed.

In addition, the market for business continuity and disaster recovery (BCDR) and data security products, specifically for public cloud, will see continued innovation and growth.

  • Cloud service providers will continue growing exponentially. As organizations look for more flexibility and agility, they will start to increasingly invest in Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS), and Software as a Service (SaaS) to support their business operations.

Thanks to the low entry costs, scalability and ease-of-use that make these services so popular, we believe their adoption will keep growing significantly. The ‘cloud wars" are just getting started!

  • Hybrid cloud solutions will still be a top choice. Throughout 2019 we will see an increasing adoption of hybrid environments as businesses migrate to the cloud.

Migrating everything at once can be a daunting task for organizations with complex IT infrastructures. The hybrid cloud model offers a transition solution that mixes the existing on-premises infrastructure with public cloud and private cloud services. This way, companies can transition to the cloud at their own pace, while still being flexible and efficient.

We are living in exciting times for cloud technology - the adoption rate is sky rocketing and we see constant innovations such as machine learning or artificial intelligence being integrated into different cloud services. At N2WS we are constantly innovating to stay ahead of the curve with data protection solutions for workload running on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
