US Signal opens up its cloud services with expanded Veeam partnership

US Signal is improving its package of cloud offerings today by announcing an extended partnership with Veeam Software, the innovative provider of solutions that deliver Cloud Data Management. The Michigan-based data center services provider now allows Veeam Availability Suite 9.5 users to seamlessly back up and replicate to an offsite US Signal data center. This announcement creates the ultimate disaster recovery plan without increasing or adding any licensing fees. US Signal, which is a Gold Veeam Cloud & Service Provider (VCSP) partner, also delivers fully-integrated, cloud-based DR and replication together with fast, secure cloud backup-- enabled by Veeam Cloud Connect through US Signal's vCloud Director.

Starting today, Veeam customers can perform a full-site failover to a remote US Signal DR site from anywhere through a secure web portal and partial-site failover to instantly switch over to selected VM replicas only. This is made possible by extended layer 2 connectivity that keeps IP Schema in place during a disaster event.

"US Signal is looking forward to working with Veeam to deliver seamless off-site backup and replication services via our state-of-the-art data center," said US Signal Product Manager Mike Walmer. "Our extended partnership creates a complete approach to data protection simplified within a single software platform. Combining Veeam Availability Suite 9.5 with US Signal Cloud for site redundant backup, replication and archival provides comprehensive protection throughout the entire data lifecycle."

Customers now have more visibility and control over replica VMs in the event of a failover, and they gain access to advanced networking services through VMware NSX. Customers can also replicate and recover from backups in US Signal's diverse cloud repositories using VMware vCloud Director. When deployed alongside additional Veeam and US Signal traffic-reduction technologies, the amount of data that must be sent across the WAN can be minimized, further improving recovery times.

By combining US Signal Cloud Backup with Veeam Cloud Tier, customers are able to store primary backups onsite or in a US Signal data center for low RTOs and then reduce costs by creating long-term secondary backups via S3 to US Signal Object Storage. This is ideal for healthcare and financial organizations, where data is required to be kept for several years due to compliance standards.

"As a VCSP partner, US Signal has constantly demonstrated in-depth knowledge of Veeam products. We are, therefore, confident in US Signal's ability to deliver Veeam-powered Availability solutions that will enable customers to meet the demands of an Always-On Enterprise," said Matt Kalmenson, vice president of Cloud, Americas. "This represents a huge opportunity for US Signal to leverage both Veeam Cloud Connect and Veeam Availability Suite 9.5 in order to acquire new customers, build recurring revenue, and continue its expansion in the rapidly-growing cloud services, backup archiving and DRaaS markets."
