Tigera Extends Palo Alto Panorama Network Security Management to Kubernetes
Tigera, an enterprise software company providing security and compliance solutions for containers and Kubernetes, today announced the immediate availability of Tigera Secure Enterprise Edition 2.5 that enables security teams to use Palo Alto Networks' Panorama to define and enforce security policies for their cloud-native applications running on Kubernetes. With Tigera Secure 2.5, security teams can now use their existing tools and processes to secure and monitor traffic inbound and outbound from the cluster as well as the traffic between workloads within the cluster.

Container orchestration adds complexity and dynamism that does not integrate well with most security team's tools and processes; notably, firewalls and the SOC. Until now, a security team would need to either fully delegate security to the infrastructure and application teams, or learn a new security paradigm and tools. Now, with Tigera Secure 2.5, security teams can define their zone-based architecture and firewall rules using their existing tools and have those rules enforced for their container-based applications.

"By 2022, more than 75 percent of global organizations will be running containerized applications in production, which is a significant increase from fewer than 30 percent today," per Gartner. According to the global research firm: "Palo Alto Networks remains the pure-play security vendor with the highest visibility on enterprise firewall shortlists, across all industries."  Gartner positioned Palo Alto Networks as a leader in its latest Gartner MQ report on the sector.

"Containers are still a small percentage of the workloads that the security team needs to manage, and they don't have time to learn all the new concepts and tools just to accommodate a small handful of applications," said Ratan Tipirneni, president and CEO of Tigera. "With the release of Tigera Secure 2.5, we're easing the pressure on security teams by enabling them to focus on what they know best while enforcing security controls and speeding the safe rollout of these new, complex applications."

"The industry trends are clear," continued Tipirneni. "New applications are being developed using cloud-native technologies that help businesses reduce cycle times and while retaining and winning more customers. Tigera Secure 2.5 ensures that the security team's controls are in place while enabling this competitive edge."

Tigera Secure 2.5 is now available to current customers to provide easier integration with security teams' existing tools and workflow, and speed the safe rollout of new applications.

Additional details are available in the Tigera Secure 2.5 announcement blog.
