Mail.ru Group, the developer of
Maps.me,
announced the global availability of
Disk-O,
a new Windows and macOS application designed for the safe and easy management
of data from an unlimited number of personal cloud storage solutions. With
Disk-O, users can access files from providers like Box, Dropbox, Google Drive
and more directly from their desktop. Files appear as if connected by a virtual
hard drive, empowering users to open, browse, transfer, edit, search and delete
files from their cloud storage accounts with no downloads necessary.
On
average, active cloud users leverage at least two to three cloud storage
services. Over time, users collect an enormous amount of data across various
services - particularly if they have extensive multimedia collections like
designers, photographers, or videographers do. Accessing files stored in
different services is a time-consuming process, as users have to visit each
site individually or use their desktop applications. Furthermore, desktop
applications necessitate the use of limited local storage resources.
Built
from the ground up to provide a smooth and intuitive user experience, Disk-O
allows users to access data stored in the cloud directly from default file
management systems like File Explorer and Finder. Installed on more than one
million devices to date, Disk-O is fully secured using SSL-encryption and
OAuth-authentication. Users can create a custom PIN to manage and control
access to all connected cloud storage accounts. With Disk-O, all data is stored
in the cloud, so users can access their files without using any of the limited
storage on their devices.
"The
beauty of Disk-O is that it empowers users to gain greater flexibility and
control over their cloud storage services," said Egor Ganin, Deputy Vice
President & Head of Cloud and Business Services at Mail.Ru Group. "Users
can perform resource-intensive tasks like watching video files or working with
large Photoshop documents with no latency as Disk-O ‘remembers' recently opened
files, accelerating their processing time."
While
many cloud services offer users a free tier of storage, these typically provide
a minimal amount of space, with additional storage necessitating expensive
monthly payments. By contrast, Disk-O offers users a simple way to manage all
their cloud services from one location and over 20 GB of combined storage
offered by free plans of above services.
Disk-O
is immediately available for a monthly fee of 2.29 USD per month. The
application can be connected to an unlimited number of accounts from the
following cloud storage services: Box, Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive and
WebDAV. Support for Amazon S3 and FTP is coming soon. The application is
available globally on macOS and Windows devices.
