Zerto, an industry leader for IT resilience, today announced support for AWS Storage File Gateway for cloud backup and long-term retention storage in the cloud. The move furthers Zerto's long-term retention (LTR) support of the cloud by enabling enterprise customers to leverage Amazon Web Services (AWS) for archiving backup and other low-cost LTR needs.
Zerto support for AWS Storage File Gateway allows AWS customers to bring the core value of IT Resilience to the cloud. With this announcement, Zerto takes yet another step in revolutionizing the industry's approach from snapshot-based backups to Continuous Data Protection for both short-term and long-term scenarios.
The Zerto IT Resilience Platform has evolved the way data protection and backup is performed by merging its award-winning journaling technology with long-term repositories, delivering a continuous stream of recovery points, spanning seconds to years. Zerto significantly reduces the inherent flaws of traditional recovery such as time consuming, inconsistent recoveries and lengthy availability gaps due to the performance impact of snapshots.
Zerto brings AWS customers the following capabilities and benefits:
- Seamless recovery of entire sites, VMs, applications, and files from seconds to years
- Consistent and simple recovery of multi-VM applications using Virtual Protection Groups
- Seconds on recovery and virtually no data loss
- Utilizing low-cost storage as a target site
"Zerto customers are now able to schedule LTR policies against an NFS or SMB target in AWS Storage File Gateway. This will manage the placement and retrieval of Zerto LTR jobs," said Rob Strechay, senior vice president of product at Zerto. "This is a significant move for Zerto and the momentum we've seen over the past few years as we've converged DR and backup. Initial certification will be on Amazon Simple Storage Service (Amazon S3) and is further evidence of our commitment to AWS and cloud."
Zerto will be exhibiting at
AWS re:Invent 2019, December 2-6 at booth #2725. Zerto's booth activities will include demos of Zerto 7.5, highlighting its relationship with AWS, including AWS Storage File Gateway.
Additionally, Alex Schenck, Advisory Solutions Architect for Zerto, and Michael Masters, infrastructure specialist at Maritz will deliver a presentation titled “Protect and Migrate Your Compute Instances with Zerto,” which will take place on Tuesday, Dec 3, 3:15 p.m. – 4:15 p.m. in Bellagio, Monet 3.
