If you are involved in End User
Computing in any way, shape or form, you absolutely must check out the details
on the upcoming DISRUPT 2020 event. Now
in its third year, DISRUPT is quickly filling a void and becoming the standard
event to address everything EUC.
The 2020 DISRUPT events will take
place January 27 through 29 in Nashville, TN and February 4-6 in Munich,
Germany.

this exclusive pre-show VMblog interview with Thomas Charlton, Chairman and CEO, Goliath Technologies, to learn more about the company and what they have
planned for the
DISRUPT event.
VMblog: Let's start off by having you tell us a little about Goliath Technologies.
Thomas Charlton: Goliath
Technologies provides
monitoring and troubleshooting software for hybrid IT environments. We use
embedded intelligence and automation to help IT professionals anticipate,
troubleshoot and prevent end-user experience issues regardless of where IT
workloads or users are located.
Most organizations simply don't have enough time, tools, or staff to
troubleshoot every end user ticket or complaint that comes in. This is where
Goliath comes in. When organizations invest in our software it is like hiring
multiple full-time troubleshooting experts who not only solve issues but
proactively identify and alert on them before end users are impacted. This is
how we help transform IT departments from reactive to proactive.
VMblog: Talk about your technology,
what problems do you solve? And how are you considered unique?
Charlton: At Goliath, we are passionate about helping IT professionals reduce the professional
pain associated with managing hybrid IT environments along with end-user
performance expectations. We enable organizations to successfully launch new
initiatives like remote worker programs, BYOD, and moves to the cloud by
ensuring that the end-user experience is seamless and uninterrupted regardless
of device, location, or individual behavior. We do this by helping them anticipate,
troubleshoot and prevent performance issues such as: poor session performance,
application crashes, and slow logons.
Goliath Technologies is the only end-user experience monitoring and troubleshooting
solution for VMware Horizon and other virtualized applications and desktops that
is also purpose-built for troubleshooting EHR
application performance issues (Allscripts, Cerner, Epic, and MEDITECH). Goliath's embedded intelligence monitors over
250 key conditions, events and failure points across VMware Horizon and major
EHR applications and automatically alerts IT teams before end users are
impacted.
Goliath provides broad and deep visibility across infrastructure,
hypervisor, servers, operating systems and applications to quickly identify
where a problem occurs and what is causing it.
We do this with our unique ability to view metrics across end-user
behavior, metrics from the underlying IT infrastructure (like VMware Horizon), as
well as EHR applications in a single console to conclusively determine if such
factors as networks/connectivity or server resource allocation are the true
root cause of session slowness.
Finally, Goliath's historical reports and analytics help foster
data-driven conversations with internal IT teams, management, other vendors,
and end users to permanently resolve performance issues across VMware Horizon
and all major EHR applications.
VMblog: And how do you partner with IGEL?
Charlton: Together, Goliath
Technologies and IGEL enable IT professionals to proactively monitor and
troubleshoot the end-to-end user experience while centrally managing,
controlling, and securing all endpoints.
IGEL is often a critical piece of the IT delivery
infrastructure, but that infrastructure is complex and when end-user
performance issues arise (slow logon times, poor session performance),
identifying what piece of technology stack or end-user behavior is negatively
impacting the experience is challenging. We have joint customers, where IGEL is
falsely blamed for being a root cause of an end-user performance issue which
either stalled or put the entire deployment at risk.
With Goliath, our
joint customers quickly identify and prove the true root cause, ending the
blame game and often proving IGEL is not the issue thus preventing project
delays. Our strength together is most evident within healthcare as no patient
can be cared for without logging into their virtualized workspace and accessing
their EHR applications. Together, IGEL and Goliath help health IT teams deliver
a high performing, highly secure clinician experience.
VMblog: Can you tell us what you plan to show off at your booth at DISRUPT 2020?
Charlton: Goliath
Technologies will discuss how we help organizations around the globe anticipate,
troubleshoot and prevent end-user experience issues regardless of where their
IT workloads or users are located.
We will share
how we have transformed our customer IT teams from being reactive to proactive
by anticipating performance issues before end users are ever impacted. Additionally,
we will be highlighting our purpose-built modules for EHR applications
(Allscripts, Cerner, Epic, and MEDITECH) and how we can isolate the root cause
of poor performance for clinicians regardless if the issue resides in the
underlying IT delivery stack, EHR application, or end-user behavior.
VMblog: Why do you think DISRUPT is a much needed event this year?
Charlton: Hybrid IT
environments will continue to kick into high gear in 2020 with increased usage
and critical workloads moving from traditional in-house platforms to the cloud,
which greatly increases the complexity for IT to manage. Not only do they
need tools like IGEL who are offering next-gen edge OS for cloud workspaces,
but organizations will require additional intelligence and automation from
monitoring and troubleshooting tools, like Goliath, that function regardless of
where workloads and users are located.
VMblog: What do you attribute to the
growing success of End User Computing? Why has it become so popular
lately?
Charlton:
The growing success of End User Computing is twofold. It is
the demand from end users who want to work from any location, on any device,
and at any time of the day. The second piece of this is we now have technology
that can bring that vision to life. The most enabling technologies of End User
Computing work across hybrid IT environments ensuring that organizations can
continue to utilize their existing infrastructure much of which remains
on-premises while bringing in new technologies and cloud solutions to work
alongside. With technologies like Goliath that help organizations manage,
monitor and troubleshoot this hybrid world, organizations can now truly deliver
on the vision they have set out around end user computing.
In
industries, like healthcare, you see growth of end user computing rise even
faster as there is direct correlation to how clinicians work and the way care
is delivered which are both highly dependent on technology such as EHR apps and
the virtualized workspace.
VMblog: How do you and your solution help with the growth of the EUC
market?
Charlton: The continually increasing mobile workforce
demands a seamless end-user experience regardless of device or location and
Goliath Technologies gives IT professionals the ability to anticipate,
troubleshoot, and prevent end-user experience issues from happening.
A tremendous opportunity exists as
the shift to new platforms and application delivery methods to meet the needs
of the growing remote workforce exposes functionality gaps in legacy IT
Operations products. Goliath acts quickly to fill these gaps with purpose-built
monitoring and troubleshooting solutions that enable IT professionals to
address the challenges associated with managing the end-user experience in
hybrid IT environments where infrastructure and applications are on-premises,
in the cloud, and with end users who access applications using any device,
anywhere at any time.
