Surfshark launches a free Trust DNS app for iOS devices
The app works as a DNS resolver and provides a fundamental layer of privacy protection by masking user's DNS lookups with HTTPS encryption

Seeking to grant a basic level of protection for everyone, privacy protection company Surfshark introduces a secure DNS resolver Trust DNS for iOS devices. The application does not contain ads and enables its users to browse the internet securely from surveillance. It comes as the company's tribute to an inherent human right to privacy and is therefore available completely free of charge for everyone.

Unlike the vast majority of free apps, Trust DNS service stands out in the competition by being completely ad-free and not requiring a registration. Although Trust DNS does not change the user's IP address, its browsing information cannot be identified. Private browsing is ensured by the acknowledged HTTPS protocol for secure communication, as well as company's strict no-logs policy.

"People trust privacy software companies to protect their data, which essentially means they are handing highly sensitive information to the service provider. However, many people cannot afford premium protection software, and thus resort to untrustworthy free apps. Seeking to generate profit, free service providers often track users' online activities and share data with third-parties. Having that in mind, we created Trust DNS to grant a basic level of protection for everyone as an embodiment of our company values," says Naomi Hodges, Cybersecurity advisor at Surfshark.

Internet service providers (ISPs) usually provide users with their own DNS services that translates domain names to numerical IP addresses. However, it means that ISP - the DNS provider - can track user's browsing activities and control their browsing habits by speed throttling, restricting access to certain websites, and such.

Trust DNS app enables its users to disguise their browsing activities from anyone who monitors customers' web usage, including internet surveilling agencies and service providers. As many carriers worldwide are building massive ad-tracking networks, DNS over HTTP encryption makes tracking of information more difficult.

Surfshark Trust DNS app for iOS allows people who live in or travel to heavily restrictive countries access blocked websites, such as Wikipedia, in Indonesia, or YouTube in Iran.

A free DNS resolver is the newest addition to Surfshark's privacy protection toolkit that includes malware, ad, and tracker blocker CleanWeb, a data breach alert system HackLock, a private and ad-free search tool BlindSearch, as well as a unique GPS spoofing feature.

Trust DNS app is now available on the Apple Store: ‎DNS Changer - Trust DNS App on the App Store.
