COVID-19 (aka Coronavirus) is changing how Americans work.
Employees are being faced with the many challenges that come with working
remotely, and with that, it's a good idea to keep cybersecurity top of mind.
That means remote employees need to protect their data and devices, just like
they would in the workplace.
A number of cyber security vendors are offering
organizations free cybersecurity support as COVID-19 scams flourish and
over-stretched employees become more vulnerable to cyber-attacks.
Here are a few:
Vectra
Within the SaaS world, Microsoft Office 365 has dominated the
productivity space, with more than 180 million users. For many of those users,
Microsoft 365 is the core of enterprise data storage and communication, meaning
it is an incredibly rich treasure trove. It was only natural Microsoft 365
would become the latest focus of cyber attackers. Even considering the
increasing adoption of security postures such as multi-factor authentication
(MFA), 40% of organizations still suffer from Microsoft 365 breaches, which is
leading to massive financial and reputational losses.
In response to COVID-19, and the influx of remote workers
using Microsoft Office 365, Vectra is now offering their services
for free through May 31, 2020, to detect account takeovers (ATOs) for
Microsoft 365 accounts by identifying:
- Infiltration and
elevation: Brute
force, adding users and privileges to groups, staging malware, etc.
- Reconnaissance: accessing files in
unusual ways; listing users, files, and shares
- Persistence and evasion: installing apps to
keep access, changing policy and logging, turning off DLP, etc.
- Exfil and destruction: creating mail
sinks, sharing and downloading files, etc.
Cognito Detect uses the power of AI, plus threat research,
to detect and prioritize in progress attacks in real-time. This SaaS-based
program delivers daily reports as well as the support of Vectra Consulting
Analysts.
