The role of IBM
Virtual Data Pipeline, powered by Actifio, was amplified as IBM announced the
release of its Cloud Pak for Data 3.0 during the IBM Think 2020 Digital
conference. Actifio, the pioneer of multi-cloud copy data management software, provides its patented
Virtual Data Pipeline (VDP) technology as part of IBM's ecosystem of data and
AI services.
IBM Cloud Pak for Data 3.0 is the company's modern data and AI platform that
containerizes multiple offerings for delivery as microservices to accelerate
clients' journeys to AI. Collecting, organizing and analyzing data to infuse AI
across organizations, on any cloud platform, this offering provides the open
platform enterprises need by running exclusively on Red Hat OpenShift Container
Platform.
In growing its ecosystem of data and AI services, IBM Cloud Pak 3.0 will
include IBM Virtual Data Pipeline to provision and refresh
virtual test environments in just minutes, enabling 95 percent storage capacity
savings.
Charles King, principal analyst at PUND-IT, said, "The role of
Actifio's Virtual Data Pipeline technology in one of IBM's most significant
announcements at Think 2020 Digital is a strong indicator of the continued
advance of AI across their customers' businesses. It provides an extra layer of
security and control to the vital process of developing and testing apps while
dramatically reducing the storage capacity needed."
Ash Ashutosh, Actifio Co-Founder and CEO, said, "IBM famously said
'There is no AI without IA.' Information architecture is critical. Whether they
are developing modern applications or managing analytics for AI, 80% of the
work is collecting and preparing data. By integrating our Virtual Data Pipeline
technology into the new IBM Cloud Pak for Data 3.0, IBM is enabling customers
to instantly access data from multiple sources and deliver data-driven
decisions faster than ever before."
