The new
normal of network security is upon us as InfoSec teams face the daunting task
of securing a fluid workforce. This challenge arises as employees are given the
freedom and flexibility to rotate devices as they jump on and off of the
corporate network. The necessity to secure the rapidly expanding attack surface
a fluid workforce creates, along with the need to protect high-value data and
information, is driving the need for advanced network security architectures
such as the Zero Trust Security Framework.
The keys
to a comprehensive Zero Trust Framework are pervasive visibility into all
information-in-motion across the network and the ability to detect, investigate
and respond to threats in real time. This combination is critical as the
defensive perimeter moves from the network's edge to high-value assets within
the network.
Gigamon
ThreatINSIGHT, a cloud-native, high-velocity,
Network Detection and Response (NDR) solution, which was purpose built for
responders, by responders, has gained significant traction within the analyst
community. The product was recently included in Gartner's 2020 Market Guide for Network
Detection and Response, Forrester's Now Tech: Network Analysis And
Visibility Q2 2020 report, as well as in Forrester's Now Tech: Zero Trust Solution
Providers, Q2 2020 report.
This
industry recognition comes as InfoSec and IT teams scramble to implement Zero
Trust Frameworks to address the challenge that keeps them up at night: how to
protect their networks in a rapidly evolving environment. Recent analyst
validation points include:
- The Gartner
Market Guide for Network Detection and Response report highlights
Gigamon ThreatINSIGHT as a "Representative Vendor". Key capabilities of
ThreatINSIGHT are Threat Hunting and Investigations, which Gartner
recognizes as critical components of Response. Gartner states,
"Enterprises should strongly consider NDR solutions to complement
signature-based tools and network sandboxes. Many Gartner clients have
reported that NDR tools have detected suspicious network traffic that
other perimeter security tools had missed."
- The Forrester Networks Analysis and
Visibility, Q2 2020 report stresses, "There will be unmanaged assets
(like IoT) in your infrastructure, and NAV may be the only opportunity to
detect threats against them. NAV's behavioral detection capabilities may
also surface beaconing, lateral movement, or exfiltration on managed
assets where endpoint products failed." The report identifies
ThreatINSIGHT as a referenced vendor and goes on to identify three main
capabilities as critical to NAV solutions: threat detection, asset
discovery, and threat hunting.
- The
Forrester Now Tech: Zero Trust Solution Providers, Q2 2020 report
discusses how Zero Trust is neither a tool nor a technology but a
comprehensive security approach that is ultimately a business differentiator.
Gigamon is included in this report as a Zero Trust Pillar, validating the
need for network visibility and analytics as part of a robust Zero Trust
strategy.
"This
analyst recognition reflects ThreatINSIGHT's evolution from threat detection and
response to the automation of investigation and analytics components, resulting
in real-time, actionable threat intelligence," said Andrew Harding, Chief
Product Officer at Gigamon. "ThreatINSIGHT uniquely addresses the fast-changing
threat landscape and arms organizations with the capabilities needed to shift
the power from the attackers back to the responders."
