Kaloom, an emerging leader
in fully programmable and automated cloud-native networking solutions for
distributed edge data centers, today announced its executives will present and
deliver product demonstrations with open source collaborators at the Linux
Foundation's Open Networking and
Edge Summit (ONES 2020), and Red Hat's Open5GCon. The virtual events
will occur Sept. 28 - 30, and Sept. 30, respectively.
The Kaloom Cloud Edge Fabric is the first fully
automated data center network fabric with built-in support for network slicing
featuring an embedded multi-Terabit per second (Tbps) 5G User Plane Function
(UPF). The company will demonstrate its Virtual Central Office 3.0 (VCO 3.0)
and 5G UPF capabilities.
- ONES
2020: Tuesday, Sept. 29, 10:30 a.m. -12:00 p.m. EDT,
"Bringing Enterprise Workloads from the Cloud to the Edge with 5G," occurs
during the Tutorial Theater track. Kaloom's CTO Suresh Krishnan will join
IBM's Telecom Industry Technical Leader Zygmunt Lozinski. The duo will examine
how edge computing with 5G creates tremendous opportunities in every
industry and will explore an architectural overview, including how network
and application workloads will be deployed and managed at edge and core
networks. After the panel discussion, IBM, Red Hat & Kaloom will demo
a multi-vendor solution featuring elements from all three firms working
together to deliver integrated 5G UPF and MEC capabilities running on
OpenShift.
- ONES VCO
3.0 interoperability demo: Kaloom will be demonstrating its'
Programmable Networking Fabric software with integrated 5G User Plane
functionality (as a CNF). vFabric functionality which allows
multitenancy through hardware enabled Slicing. White box hardware
switch utilized in this demo are Intel-BDX Tofino based Edge-Core Wedge
switches. Kaloom software is natively integrated into Red Hat OpenShift
Container Platform and configured and managed through its' NetConf and
Yang interfaces. Kaloom's UPF will be connected to Altran 5G Core
functionalities through Open N4 interfaces. The life cycle management for
each CNF in this specific demonstration is performed by Aarna Network's
ONAP4K8s module.
- Open5GCon:
Wednesday, Sept. 30, 12:05 - 12:40 p.m. EDT, "5G Cloud Native
Infrastructure and Edge Monetization." This presentation will answer the
question, "How can service providers take advantage of the 5G monetization
opportunity?" Kaloom's SVP Worldwide Sales and Marketing Hitendra Sonny
Soni will join Industry Business Development Leader
at IBM Rakshit Mehta and Edge Evangelist, Global Business Development
Lead at Red Hat Mike Hansen. Similar to the above-mentioned demo, it will
showcase a turn-key 5G network solution that includes full automation,
orchestration, provisioning, OSS and commercial edge enablement thanks to
the integration of Red Hat, IBM, and Kaloom solutions.
"The open source
community is delivering integrated, turn-key solutions enabling VCO 3.0 and 5G
UPF capabilities that enable service providers to more rapidly, and easily
deploy new revenue-generating services," said Hitendra Sonny Soni, SVP of
marketing and worldwide sales at Kaloom. "These solutions reduce architectural
overhead, allowing clients to better monetize their infrastructure by freeing
up resources to instead run desirable applications."
