Ordr Adds Interoperability with VMware Virtual Cloud Network Solutions to IoT Security Platform

Cybersecurity vendor Ordr announced at VMworld that its Systems Control Engine (SCE) will now work with VMware NSX-T and VMware NSX Intelligence to provide organizations with comprehensive IoT visibility, accelerated data center microsegmentation and enhanced day-two operations capabilities.

Ordr told VMblog its approach to bring together automatic detection of IoT, OT and IoMT devices on the network, profiling of behavioral risk, compliance and response is designed to make IoT security simple for its customers in commercial, government and healthcare sectors.

The company says it is the first IoT device security platform to integrate with VMware NSX Intelligence. The combination of Ordr with NSX Intelligence lets users visualize how previously unmanaged devices on a campus or branch office are communicating with virtualized workloads and VMs within the data center. Previously, these devices on the network may go undetected by IT or sit underutilized, posing both a threat to network security as well as to the bottom line. Users can also minimize the potential business impact associated with firewall changes by using Ordr integrated with NSX Intelligence to visualize and troubleshoot allowed and blocked traffic from campus devices.

The Ordr SCE provides security features to discover and classify IoT, OT and medical devices, track usage, prioritize vulnerabilities and automate remediation and compliance. The combination of Ordr SCE and NSX-T provides ongoing programmatic synchronization from Ordr to VMware NSX to profile objects and the respective device IP addresses they contain.

The Ordr SCE, VMware NSX-T and VMware NSX Intelligence solution will be demonstrated at VMworld 2020 online this week, Sep. 30 to Oct. 1. Representatives from Ordr, VMware and CHRISTUS Health, a healthcare provider and Ordr customer, will host a breakout session and a live demo of the Ordr and NSX Intelligence capabilities.
