FalconStor Announces Support and Migration Program for End-of-Life IBM ProtecTIER Customers to Allow Backup and Risk Mitigation

FalconStor Software, Inc., the software-defined data preservation company, today announced a support and migration program for IBM ProtecTIER customers. With proven IBM i and BRMS support and integration, FalconStor StorSafe is the only backup and archive solution that offers enterprise-class BRMS integration and support, as well as full IBM COS integration.

"With COVID-19, the normal orderly end-of-life retirement of IBM ProtecTIER has been significantly complicated," said Todd Brooks, FalconStor CEO. "There can be practical and legal issues for customers if IBM i data is not consistently backed up and archived. FalconStor has experience of more than 20 years with the IBM platform and has experienced IBM service and support staff to help these customers."

StorSafe is FalconStor's long-term data retention and reinstatement solution that integrates with IBM i, BRMS, and IBM COS, as well as other enterprise backup solutions and storage technologies, including object storage. The flexibility will allow IBM i and ProtecTIER customers a seamless transition from ProtecTIER to StorSafe, providing organizations the ability to maintain their participation within the IBM ecosystem by sending deduplicated backups directly to IBM on-premises storage systems and IBM COS for maximum protection and resiliency.

"Over the last twenty years, our service and support teams together with our professional services teams have worked with IBM to seamlessly integrate our product line with IBM products," says Abdul Hashmi, FalconStor's senior director of global support and services. "Due to FalconStor's heterogenous ideology, we engage with all vendors pertaining to a customer environment for a joint solution. We have a deep respect for the IBM teams' professionalism and their efforts to ensure superb customer satisfaction. Over our relationship, my team has developed significant knowledge and hands-on experience with the ProtecTIER product. The current virus situation is beyond any worst-case scenario an organization could have ever anticipated in an orderly EOL plan, and we are here to put our knowledge to use to help IBM ProtecTIER customers through this transitional time."
